Ethiopia to open its borders to all Africans

Ethiopia has announced plans to open its borders so that all Africans can enter the country without prior permission. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali made the announcement at a banquet held in honour of the visiting Rwandan leader, Paul Kagame. Abiy Ahmed says Ethiopia is proud to follow in Rwanda's footsteps. As of January this year, all African nationals received visas on arrival at Kigali International Airport. The increased opening-up of Africa's borders encourages the free movement of people. This in turn helps to promote integration, boost economic and tourism growth, and resolve conflict

Good move though they must be some few restriction to avoid stories that touches.

Honestly, Africa stands to gain a lot by relaxing movement between member states. It will boost tourism and integration. Granted the few bad ones will try to expand their territory but with adequate checks, the impact can be reduced.

African countries need to develop their respective lands before attempting this rubbish, if you are honest , you know if we would open borders through out Africa, only a few countries would be flooded .

Open borders does not mean open migration. That's why I mentioned proper checks being put in place. Such measures should make it difficult for illegal migrants to rent houses, own businesses, work and even open bank accounts. Trust me it will come with some challenges but the benefits, in the end, will outweigh the negatives.

I hear you bro. But don't you think the minority good countries for migration would be overwhelmed with a lot of people in their checkpoints or borders ? Wouldn't that cause a lot of hatred and abuse ? . I still stand with; let's develop our respective countries first before thinking of such , then we will have common respect and few people will be desperate to cross the borders to enjoy what is not theirs.

I get you, but of what use will it be to migrate when you know there is a high chance that you can't work or setup a business? When you find it difficult to rent a house or open a bank account?

As we speak we have Nigerians living shytty lives in many African countries like Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Gabon to name a few . They can't open businesses legally nor work but still they invade these countries. Imagine if these countries open their borders to our " tourists and students " out of africanism ?. Most Nigerians don't care about other people's rules or laws , so I doubt that other countries would put themselves at risk of having many of us.

You're right, there! Ethiopia go hear am if them no careful. I travel on Ethiopian Airlines, and I can tell you Ethiopians are nice and friendly. If we carry our open eyes enter Ethiopia, their nice and friendly attributes go change to hate and hostility

Lol, that's the truth bro. We are always welcomed without troubles in every nation until we start thinking we could outsmart the host and cause havoc in their land . I'm counting down months; we will soon get first page stories on how xenophobic Ethiopia is against our " hardworking and innocent " people .
