Federal University of Technology Minna...

Course: Elect/elect

Despite my score in jamb and post utme...
I wasn't offered admission in the merit list...

So am coming here to this big family(nairaland) to seek help in anyway I can get/secure admission.

And am also sure that there are others too that are going through the same problem here....

Engineering admission is really tough in FUT sha but hope your good jamb score you're saying is above 240 and UPASE above 250?

walahi. e no easy oo. I'm elect elect, entered with 263 and 240. although a lady in my dept was given with 203 and 210. i still doubt the credibility of her admission till date.

the other way surely. I know of a guy in Mechanical Engineering with 204 and 180. It's just obvious

in 2015, I even had 210 and 190 vying for elect/elect, but I was thrown to mathematics dept.

ahh, connections work everywhere oo, just that it should be to the minimal, I still believe FUT merit consideration is very good because in my 100 level first semester result pasted, the first page, containing the first set of admitted students was filled with geniuses with 80% of them on 4.5+ and it was reducing as the list was going down gradually.. lol

Same thing happened to me, i got high scores on both examinations but i was given Maths/stats. It's just too sad because i personally know someone that scored low but was given E.E.E.


NB: i applied for Compt Egnr.

25* (i can't reveal this) in Jamb and 240 in p.utme. Though might be low to some but someone who got 170 in p.utme being given Elect Elect is just unfair.

look boy, I advise to go to the school possibly with your parents (go to the admission board and the Senate) and lay a complaint. there's a mistake somewhere. you are by all means qualified. don't waste any further time.
when they confirm you're qualified, a change of course form may be given to you or however they'd do it.

but if that doesn't work, then enrol for the maths and try jamb again next year (if YOU are financially stable), because tbh, transferring frm one dept to another dept after 100level in FUT is really hard (unless you were dropped from SEET or SICT).

I need a job in Minna. I have a Post graduate diploma in Peace studies and conflict resolution and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. I can work in any administrative capacity, customer Care, Hr Assistant and so on.

there's nothing low or unfortunate about your scores. you worked hard and thus you deserve your course of choice. go to the school quick and complain.

I've already accepted the admission on JAMB CAPS, it's just too sad because my first reason for choosing FUTMX was because i heard her admissions is solely based on merit. I don't have the time and money to go the school senate. It's just crazy the kind of country we live in.

yes her admission is based on merit. and in my 4 years in FUT, dis is the only time I've heard someone with scores this exceptional being denied his desired course.

I enrolled EEE in 2015 with 210 and 190, but was thrown to maths.
I enrolled EEE again in 2017 with 263 and 240 and finally got it.

BTW what was d jamb score of the person given EEE with 170?
bcuz jamb score also matter in determining aggregate.

I called someone at GK Campus and told him about my problem. He said "the admission is based on merit, there was no more space and that was why i was given Stats". I was like what da fvck? i knew i would have performed better at other unis and might have even gotten my course of choice because FUTMX p.ume was a pure disaster. It's crazy, everyone is pressuring me to just accept my fate. The only reason i accepted it is because Stats is closer to my career choice: Data Analysis. Though i initially wanted to pursue this career through Computer Science but something made me chose Compt Engr. But still, this is the greatest shock of my life. Do you school there sir?
