Driver Licence - Help, I'm Stuck by rottenPussy: 2:51pm On Oct 21, 2018
So I started driving recently. And as required, I went for a driver's licence, but to my supprise, I was told by the people at the licencing office that I cannot get a licence immediately - not even a temporary.

I was instead given 2 sheets of stamped A4 paper with my photo and bio data written (with pen) on it, stating that my driver's licence is under processing. According to them, these sheets are to be used for the next 4 month (only within the state) before I am qualified for the proper registration.

The issue now is that I get stopped every now and then by the so called "Police" requesting for my licence. Everytime I tender the sheets, they go haywire, which has made driving frustrating and scary. The road safety officials does not query me though.

The clarification I need about this is that:
Is this how it is being done, or I am being played with (despite being their office)?
What happen to express processing of driver's licence?
Is there a particular way to approach police officers in this regard?

Pls help..

I drive around with same A4 paper, tell the policeman that they should go to FRSC and disturb them and not you.You have played for part at obtaining a drivers license, that you do not have the card yet is not your fault...Open eyes for them, they probably want to extort you.

That was the same thing an FRSC official told me. I just tend to become gentle with them since they are usually armed. It's so frustrating!

once you are gentle with a policeman, they would want to take advantage of you.2,never tell them you are in a hurry,in fact feel relaxed when talking to a policeman, talk to them like they are your slaves,no pidgin, queens english, they will accord you all respect....Doesn’t mean I don’t sort policemen,I only give them money when they interact like humans,we joke and do all but if they want to do their job,I don’t give bribe

You never jam the ones that will deal with you.

Keep talking to Police Officers like they are your slaves.

Did you attend any form of schooling at all?

Do not heed @Benz4pimp.

Be polite at all times to Police Officers. Explain to them your challenges in processing your DL quickly. They are human beings too. Some of them will reason with you.

So according to you, it pays to be rude to a Police Officer who is also rude..... Where will this take you?

Did you say there are no challenges in processing a DL at present? Are you really a Nigerian who lives in Nigeria?

Do you even have a valid DL?

Only an illiterate man will choose to be rude to a Police Officer who is also rude.

Only an illiterate man will speak to Police Officers condescending, viewing them as beneath you and as slaves.

This illiterate man is YOU.

Come back so we can argue objectively when you have mastered the art of good inter personal relations.

For now you still have a lot to learn, son.

Hahahaha. See how you are so pained just hearing the truth.

Be humble with everyone you come across. You are not better off than the Police man/woman on the street.

most of you can’t read to understand, you didn’t read in my comments where I said I am cool with policemen but wouldn’t be nice when I see a rude one....I reside in Lagos,on the mainland,Ogba to be precise, rarely is a check point from Ogba axis to ikeja under bridge down to alausa that I do not stop, joke and roger policemen that are nice and respectful but at the same time I lose my home training once a
Policeman tries to harass me.....I have done that several at the junction immediately you leave ICM ikeja when I policeman trying to tell to park pointed his gun at me!!!!It took his superior officers to intervene before I decided to ride off!!!Once you let a policeman harass you,he will do it again and again!!
