Federal Government Scholarship Beneficiries Cries Because FG Is Yet To Pay Them by Nobody: 1:35pm On Oct 23, 2018
I am a beneficiary of the federal government scholarship tenable in Nigerian tertiary institution. I and many other Nigerians were privileged to be awarded the scholarship last year (2016/2017) after it has stopped for more than three years. The FG only decided to resume the award of the scholarship after the coming of the Buhari administration and many beneficiaries that got the award during the last time the exercise for the award of the scholarship was conducted (that's in 2012 during GEJ days) were paid their entitlement in arrears last year when the scheme resumed. The same exercise (an aptitude test) was conducted this year for the award of the scholarship but the result for this year is yet to be released. The existing beneficiries that were awarded the scholarship last year were more than happy when they got the scholarship which would run for the rest of the years of their studies depending on which level you are when you got the scholarship because the money would go a long way in easing the hardship most of them go through when it come to payment of tuition fee and other expenses and even their stay in the school during their studies. With this scholarship most of us think that we have gotten a new lease of life because with this scholarship one don't have to worry about the payment of his/her tuition fee and other expenses at begining of the new session. However, things failed to come the way we expect as the federal government is yet to redeem the obligation that it took when they awarded this scholarship to us. In fact, many have to deferred a semester or the whole session because they couldn't cope with the increasing financial demand that become inherent of university education these days. I got to know this through the whatsapp group the beneficiaries created and every day you hear one horrible story or the other in the group which compelled the members to look for a way that we can voice our cries to the government with the hope that something positive might come out soon. Because the calender year is almost gone and we are yet to hear anything concerning our entitlement. Some of us agreed that we would send our woes through twitter but many of us are not on the platform and the message might not get to the right ear as we know how things usually turn out to be in this country. But with media platforms like yours, I think the message could well fall into the right ear and we might well see a positive result out of it. Thank you!

Though I don't support the ineffectiveness of this government, but no right thinking human being should put all his hopes on the government or anybody. My friend won chevron scholarship in her 100lvl and she has never been paid any dime.
When you guys were entering the higher institution, did you guys lay your hopes on the FG for that? If no, then keep the hope alive while paying your tuition the usual way you planned to be paying it but if ,yes' then you are not serious in life. Hoping on this government is a suicide mission. That's how my friend left futo for Russia under the fg bilateral scholarship, now he's dancing in events to pay his tuition and other fees as fg has abandoned them. You should be happy that you guys are in Nigeria.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
