INTRODUCTION

From independence to this day free and fair elections has been a major issue in Nigeria, an aspiration by the populace which has not yet materialised. The electoral process in Nigeria is fraught with issues that hamper the goal of free and fair elections.

We believe a key to workable elections and truer democracy in Nigeria is getting the young people involved in the democratic process.

In recent times, there has been a huge clamour for the use of an electronic voting system for the forth coming elections.

The goal of the competition is to design an electoral voting system that is workable in Nigeria.

The first prize is $1000, second prize $500 and third prize $250. There are also five other cash prizes of $50 to be won win.

Winning designs would be publicised and the aim is to bring the dialogue of efficient electoral processes back to public discussion, as well as showing workable ideas (with the Nigerian situation in mind) to the Nigerian government.
