It depends on the core values of your organization.
Multinational companies use assessment center events for entry level who have little or no relevant work experience to gauge their performance in the model of a real life job scenario.

For experienced hires, I think there's a tailored set of personality questionnaires that can be used to find out who is the best fit in line with the company's value.

This can also be modelled to suit your organization in a cost effective manner.
