Do I need anyone to tell me that these so-called are doing the ''work of God''? And when did criticising them now becomes 'touch not my anointed'?

Are we so blind and narrow-minded that we've failed to realise that God has given us  free mind to think and analyse? And why on earth would an inspirational and motivational words be taken as the 'move of the spirit'? Did you all know that Oyakhilome et al reads and study books written by unbelievers who believes that everything has principles and the keys to unlock that potentials and prosperity is you?

Why then are we so deceived? No, we are not! We are just so lazy and ignorant of the fact that consuming ourselves and spending almost all our time in church adds to our ignorance. Go to the 'STUDY' of these Pastors, you'd be amazed what you see! You shouldn't be silly enough to accuse me of not believing that serving God is good. Just that the manipulation and the brainwashing of the brethren got to stop!

Not so fast! You'd notice I haven't yet quoted from the scripture, I won't! I want us to reason together and use our common sense. There are countless and numerous solutions to most problem without necessarily going on hunger strike or letting it all out to our Pastors if we could just relax and think positively.

To the Issue of Miracles, It does happen and occur everyday. Getting saved, living on divine healing, seeing people surviving dangerous stunts and accidents are miracle wonders! Which is not Miracle?,  Camping people and housing them for weeks and making them believe that one day they'd relieve one is totally and mentally  a rip off, this is the work of a Psychiatrist and a Psychologist.

To the conscious mind, the moment you realise or told that something negative or positive is about happening to you, you react to that news in either way! Reaction formation is an intriguing defence mechanism. In Psychometric psychology it is considered to be an index of speed of processing. Lets not go too deep into that. What I'm saying here is, alot of these so-called Pastors mess up with the minds of their flocks so badly that they even get confused.

Believe this or not, Pastors only say 50% of the truth whenever they're on the pulpit, and the rest of the 50% to their wives and fellow bible scholars. Why would you know when you've never attended a theological seminar or even attempt to go to a bible school? But be very careful, not everything is also said in Bible schools especially when that Bible school belongs to that Church.

Poverty in big Churches,  More than 70% of all the big Churches congregational members lives below the poverty line. Check out your intercessors, look around you, study your group. The rich ones are the shrewd ones that lives on false pretence. Where are your tithes going?.Ps, I never mentioned your offering because it is use to maintain the Church.

Note: The Church gives to charity, no doubt about that, but on what percentage? 2% of the total offering and tithe. Aren't the Church suppose to level or bridge the gap between the rich and poor? I suppose not in this dispensation!!! Pastors now boast of the earnings and gifts, dedicating expensive cars week in week out, some of them are even buying jets. Lets cut the crap, ok, don't tell me or start quoting the Bible that ' the workman is blah blah blah'. Aint the workers in the Church part of the workforce? I've never heard a Church buying a car or building a house for its less privileged member! The only building they'd announce is another branch of the Church, your tithe contribution.

These Pastors never wanted to be this selfish, but subconsciously, they became greedy and arrogant.Wake up people! Criticize me if you want, we cannot deceive God. Wisdom is needed in whatsoever thing we do. I go to church, listen to pastors, get blessed under them but don't pay my tithe, all depends on your level of understanding of the scripture, topic for another time.

Are you now telling me that the likes of Bill Gates, Carlos Slim Helu,Warren Buffet and Lawrence Ellison (world richest men) who don't pay tithes but does only  charity works would not enter the kingdom of God?Think again!

Paris10,

No doubt alot of the stuffs you said are true! but once a while lets try to take our eyes/minds/energies away from criticising these supposed Men of God and do ourselves(souls) the favour of knowing God on an individual basis. sometimes i ponder if the resources we put in to criticise these men are'nt enough to spend quality time with the spirit of God in us.

I keep reiterating that the problem aint with these men, the problem is with you, me and everyone who chooses to be deceived simply because we choose to be lazy regarding spiritual issues.

I personally do not see anything wrong in Adeboye's nor Oyedepo's neither Oyakhilome's lifestyle, these men can be real for christ sake and they could also be fake i still dont care, but you see i'll rather choose to use my precious time removing those 'big logs' on my eyes and in the process keep getting better than 'pointing at the 'specks' in anothers' eyes.

One area alot of us fail is that we look up to these men to be perfect as well as in their deeds, whereas folks like Apostle Peter even made several errors yet was loved by God.

on the note: 'ur stand on tithing appears you dont read the bible, else you should know it has absoultely nothing to do with MOGs. cheers!

Sorry to disappoint you. i'm not your regular Nigerian Church goer. I am a thinker. How do you expect to succeed without asking question? Pls cut the bullslot, don't tell me to read Mal 3:8-10, Mathew 23:23, Neh 7 and the rest in order to understand the tithe theory.

This is exactly the point i'm making! Can't you for once say something or write something intellectual without involving God in it? Most Nigerians believe in God and so do I, but for God sake, use your God-given talent and come up with something more educational.

I have not in anyway say anything bad about anyone, but just making a statement.

You know as well as I do that any preacher that preaches mandatory tithing is either incompetent or an outright fraud, so stop trying to promote the fraudulent doctrine on this thread. Paris 10 is totally on track with his thinking.

Maybe i should also come to think or preach that Jesus was also incompetent and fraudelent to teach the people to continue tithing  tongue. or maybe i should also go back and check out just what the Jesus said about tithing  embarassed

Matt.23:23:. . . and Jesus continued by saying assuredly  i say unto you practise justice, practise mercy, practise faithfulness and also do not neglect to practise tithing

And to say our free-thinker friend should go on thinking reprobacy goes to tell me that Oshob can maybe add free-thinking to his CV after subscribing to 'gnosticism', 'anti-tithing' and 'anti-trinity' even in the glares of scriptures, it sure goes to tell me just what kind of mind you possess, free-thinking of course  grin grin. Now I know that people are just as ignorant as themselves! Matt 23:23, ' "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former''., Stop quoting out of context!

How come the Mathew you quoted is totally different from the one I just quoted? Let me lecture you on what Jesus actually mean by the highlighted words above, A figure of speech is a use of word that diverges from its normal meaning, such as simile, metaphor or personification. Jesus's statement in Matt 23:23 was an Irony! It was totally a sarcastic gesture from Jesus towards the scribes and Pharisees.

A typical Nigeria example would be, '' You give that policeman egunje, why you no kuku give that custom man too make we 4 know say you complete the bribery thing. You should have done what you did for the police man without neglecting the former!, This is called sarcasm!

That boldened part actually got me LMBO at least i finally found me-self an intelligent ~~,  grin grin why should i quote from the same version as you did come to think of it has he quoted any scriptures so far?

my friend, Jesus did not quote that passage as a figure of speech (be it simile, meta4 or whatever) he was straight on it, he rebuked the hypocrites for trying to put so much emphasis on things that mattered almost little at the expense of things that mattered.

The pharisees where known to be keen observers of the commandments of God (law) and this they did in a detailed matter that they began to add their own doctrines called the "traditions of men", for instance they paid tithe to look 'righteous' before men but not to fulfill its very essense which is to honor God.

with time they continued doing those things that men see with the physical eyes to gain respect and honor, but to the detriment of important issues like caring for needy person (mercy), fighting for the oppressed (justice), and following steadfast in their relationship with God (faithfulness), when Jesus saw this he rebuked them for wanting to look good by giving tithes, but refused to give attention to areas that mattered too hence that passage

lets see it again (ok! for the sake of respect i'll quote your version) grin grin

Matt 23:23-28

23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices — mint, dill and cummin [keeness to keep the minute part of God's commandment] . But you have neglected the more important matters of the law — justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former [what is the former? Tithe of course, did he condemn its practise? No of course!].

24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

25 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

27 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean.

28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

so you see, he did not condemn tithe as a practise, rather he condemned their hypocrisy[pretense] and quest for appearing righteous outside at the expense of the inside man. (you need to see the translation of this passage in the version i use - self expanatory) cheers!  cheesy cheesy

Why is Christianity so controversial and volatile amongst Christians. The faith has been overwhelmingly denominated to the extent that churhes dont see eye to eye in their mode of worship and preachings. This idea of getting a call has become so fraudulently applied that you wonder what these calls are all about. Different versions of the bible that do not seem to be saying the same thing on issues makes the whole religion confusing.

Take this for consideration: celestial church goers cant worship in cherubim and seraphim; CAC will not worship in Apostolic Faith; Jehovah's Witness will not worship in any other church; Assembly of God totally distance from Church of Latter Saints; Anglican will not worship in Catholic, Methodist is averse to Baptist, Presbyterians will not go to worship in African Church of Christ, the Pentecostals are worst, Redeemers stay off Winners, RHEMA averse to Deeper Life, KICC is not worshiping with Love World; Latter Rain members will not touch Household of God for worship. Synagogue is a different case entirely. You can continue till JESUS comes.

Yet they are all christians, they are all churches, they are all pastors, reverends, archbishops, prophets, cardinals, etc. The faith has become polarised, diluted and corrupted with human minds and interests. These interests include politics, culture, tradition, heresy, commerce, sexualism, regionalism, tribalism, cultism and professional consultancy.

That is why church has become a huge socio-economic organisation with mission statements, visions, targets, business principles and policies, operational strategies, business development models, expansionism and diversification plans and programmes. The goals have become profit oriented, publicity and advertisement, product innovations and packaging, mergers and acquisitions.

In Nigeria, while commercial businesses are collapsing, the church businesses are booming, the former premises of commerce have being taken over by church branches, chapels, parishes and chapters. Where there is poverty and deprivation, church business grows. Where there is ignorance and lack of study, lies, concoction and manipulations rules. The real BIBLE says my people perishes for lack of knowledge. An African idiom says, in the land of blind people, a one-eyed person becomes the ruler.

Nigerians go to school but dont study, dont research, dont query, dont analyse, dont show objectivity, dont antagonise, very complacent, very timid and feeble minded, dont display intelectual capability when it comes to religion. That is why they remain experimental tools in the hands of challatans calling themselves men of GOD. The question is who is not a man of GOD and who will call himself a man of Devil.

We are called by God to render services in area in which we're good at. Only lazy, timid, complacent Nigerians refuse to understand and know who God really is.

Well done @ paris10 and GNBohr. *Clap clap* I really enjoyed reading this post. @GNBohr, you have hammered the nail on the head. A lot of people not just Nigerians are so gullible about what is going on in christendom today. People need to wake up and ask the Holy Spirit to open their eyes to see what is happening in the so called church of today. May the Lord God Almighty help us all. Amen.

Tonye-t:

Maybe i should also come to think or preach that Jesus was also incompetent and fraudelent to teach the people to continue tithing  tongue. or maybe i should also go back and check out just what the Jesus said about tithing  embarassed

Matt.23:23:. . . and Jesus continued by saying assuredly  i say unto you practise justice, practise mercy, practise faithfulness and also do not neglect to practise tithing

And to say our free-thinker friend should go on thinking reprobacy goes to tell me that Oshob can maybe add free-thinking to his CV after subscribing to 'gnosticism', 'anti-tithing' and 'anti-trinity' even in the glares of scriptures, it sure goes to tell me just what kind of mind you possess, free-thinking of course  grin grin. i just dont pray my dear friend and brother wakes up one day to tell us God doesnt exist  tongue  grin grin

Actually, paris10 quoted Matthew 23:23 from the King James Version of the bible. It's the first, best and most exquisite bible on the planet, the one from which all other translations derive. It's also the most accurate, as far as accuracy goes when it comes to biblical translation. But here you are presenting the 'same' verse with a completely different meaning. It's not the first time you've brought forward that fraudulently twisted version of Matthew 23 to 'support' tithing. Obviously the translators have gone from accuracy to pure fabrication and ought to be reported. From which bible translation did you get your own version of Matthew 23:23? Please state the bible version you're using so others can look it up. Thanks.

Na WAH O!!

I remember when pastors use to wear tattered oversize suits and carry mega phone walking frm house to house preaching from door to door.
Now to see Pastor, you will pass through so many protocols you would thik you are in a government office.

Of all these so-called "Men of God", T.B Joshua, the stone which they all rejeced and castigated s coming out smelling like a babys bottom. His philanthropism is over-shadowing his gymnastic annointing.

I saw his birthday and I came close to actually repenting and joining his church.

@paris10,
What a wonderful write up. However you did not do proper resarch before posting. So point of correction, Winners chapel has two jets not one and the third one is on the way. If that will make you shade tears of BLOOD go ahead. Your problem is that you are still living in the yesterday world of pastors so you still posses poverty mentality about pastors. Please read my post on men of GOD yesterday, today and tommorrow for more information. So my dear , i want you to prepare you heart for more. That only four pastors in Nigeria are using private jets are not enough but only for now .I said this because very soon up to 10(ten) pastors will be using private jets. The rest will be using helicopters to travel around the country.By that time you may die of heart attack seeing them if care is not taken.
So my dear paris10, it is a high time you liberate yourself of poverty mentality. How much is the costs of these private jets that you are angry that churches these men of GOD are leading purchased?. What a pity , a private jet that if allowed less than 10(ten) members of these churches could sponsor ie could purchase for the church.

Because you're this gullible, ignorant and brainwashed you've failed to see light to what @paris10 is saying. Your Pastor or Church having 3 jets does not in any way justify those purchases. Where in the world apart from Nigeria would you see pastors publicly and flamboyantly displaying their wealth and assets?, Only Nigeria!! WHY? , because the lazy, ignorant, illiterate Church members thinks the Pastors are behind every of their successes and achievements.

Nigeria is still a third world nation. Instead of resources to be channelled towards eradicating poverty and diseases, ignorant Church members (especially those whose source of income cannot be verified) are busy buying jets for Pastors. Bribing MOG's does not guarantee heaven.
