Doctors are seen to be healthcare givers working around the clock,24 hours a day,7 days a week in other to provide quality health care services for everyone both far and near.just last week at Ubth a doctor slumpped and died after plenty hours of surgery without rest.this and many is what happens when doctors takes care of others without having time to take care of themselves or are not been taken care of.
Lagos university teaching hospital is in the news again for very bad reasons.since september 1st uptill now its house officers doctors both in the medical and dental arm has not been renumerated for reasons been that luth has exhausted its funds for the year, mind you this is not applicable to other teaching hospitals in Nigeria,it happens only in luth where things dont work.
Most of the doctors complained that they usually receive salaries of a previous month, usually in the middle of a new month, which luth is accustomed to and has made the doctors accept their fate that way, mind you the doctors have not gone on any industrial action, they still go to work everyday carteering for the patients been entrusted to them.
Needless to say that the association of resident doctors ARD-LUTH has been trying its best to fight this course for houseofficers and residents affected.most doctors can no longer care for their needs and those of their families as they now do the regular suffering and smiling song by fela.this must end they say,as they are calling on all stakeholders, and meaningful Nigerians to help fight the corruption in luth,as the cmd christopher bode once said Hos and doctors does not deserve pay because they are been trained and this was same programme he past through..
Right now it seems 6-8years of medical and dental school, reading and grinding is now in vain.as doctors are no longer valued in the society.

Too bad. It's true there are glory hunting doctors, likewise fake ones. But, a truly dedicated doctor in the real sense of the word deserves to be paid as and when due. I have many doctor colleagues and friends, and when you see those who are worthy of their calling working especially at A/E (Accident and Emergency), Prenatal wards, and not the last nor the least outright Surgery units, what i am saying will hit home. I am not a doctor, but there are about 3 of them i usually go out of my way to commend each time. One of them is on another level in times of being a nice guy. That guy can do no wrong.

As i am, if you give me MBBS degree with other qualifications like say FWACS etc, so that i don't need to go through the hassles of exams and courses, i still won't want to be one. The hassles no be here ooo. Abeg make dem pay these guys jare.
