Actually they are

The foundation of Nigerian education was based on the idea of our colonial master most if not all were Christian missionaries.
Everything about the structure is in line with Christianity, that is why you can't see anything wrong in it.

We are now an independent nation, our ideology too should be independent,we know there are both Christians and Muslims in this country let accommodate both and stop hiding under secularism, Nigeria is not a secular nation except we want to deceive ourselves.

What is wrong in wearing hijab?will it affect your own dress?
Tell me.The problem stems from the fact that we claim to live together but we fail to understand eachother.
Muslim prays compulsorily 5times a day and part of the requirements is for you to cover what is necessary in your body.If Muslims are not allow to wear hijab, they won't be able to do this obligation anywhere they are whenever there is time for the prayer.

Any thing that is demanded by Muslims are called many names Islamisation, extremism, terrorism.Let stop this and reason intellectually. We are all biased in one way or the other we just don't won't to agree, give us space too what are you afraid of.

Islam is not limited to mosque,it pervades all areas of a Muslim life,he must look at everything with Islamic spectacles and act accordingly.

If it is a private enterprise u can have it in your way but for government owned we both have the right to enjoy it without infringement on our fundamental rights.

yes it's part of ur right to practice whatever

but it's is also within the school's right to give out dress codes!

there are so many religions that says u should do or wear whatever but a school can't let people do or wear whatever in the name of religion , they have their rules and regulations !
u follow it or fvck off

and besides what sh!t are u talking about being mistreated ? who has been ruling this country ever since?

You guys are a bunch of hypocrites. You call not allowing hyjab in a public school Bigotry?

Why do Muslim ladies in Banks and other establishments comply with the dress codes. Where they are allowed to wear such only on Fridays including native dresses. Why do they comply.

They should have contested it proclaiming their freedom to wear hyjab naw and see if they won't receive sack letter after some few warnings.

Islam means Trouble.

Anywhere it is there must be trouble.

No wonder one of my Clients who happens to be a Multi billionaire who owns three Universities has almost all his heads of Departments and Directors as Christians.

Even Muslims know themselves and are careful to employ themselves.

Wisdom!!!!
when humanity gets it right, banks and every over other institution won't have to be intolerant of religion. Let's assume banks wants to be secular and require we all come to work wearing hijab you will shout islamisation but it's cool if banks stop others from practicing their right to religion. I am sure if the dress code of banks is very not something you as a Christian can abide with you will also kick.

Some parents just like fomenting trouble, if they are against the decision of the school, they should approach the law court.

Talk about joblessness. If they had something serious doing they wouldn't hav such time.

In as much as I hate engaging in religious talks here I can't jxt help say the truth; Muslims shld pls examine their beliefs and the way they do things.

You sound extremely reasonable as a Muslim. I'm sorry I don't mean to insult your Religion. You sound peaceful too which is nice. I hardly see a Muslim with this kind of tone when argument arises and I give you kudos for this.

Now, you claim the Christians antagonising these people should rather educate them?

But don't you think the job is better done by few Muslims having your kind of heart?

If a Christian should point to a Muslim that he is wrong, do you think he wouldn't say its because he is a Christian, he said that because he hates him?

But when a Muslim calls a Muslim and chastise him or her, they would want to consider the advice and reason . So the ball is in your court . Do the needful.

My children deserve the safety and peace of being in muslim free schools/environment!

From my own angle, I see that most SW Moslems have no mind of their own. They follow uneducated Moslems up and down with parochial and archaic reasoning. There is no single sign that they are excited except for a few (microscopic few).

After all their education they tends to degrade and demean other people's religions all in the name of fundamental rights and God's given rights. UK is paying the heavy price now and the bulk of Europe are not having any more of it for now.

They are deceptive and it is scriptual to them. Read about " TAQIYYA" then you will know better. Most of them don't like anything western just because it has western colonialism effects. But same wears head scarf, hijab, jalabia to official places of work. Where on earth is that done.

The have succeeded in polluting the education section and indoctrinate the little innocent Moslem boys and girls with hate of other religions. The guy in pain deliberately did it to advance his faith.

Nigeria is going 50yrs backward if we continue to toe this part and we may, I say may end up as Yemen, Afghanistan or one war ravanged nation of Islamic faith.

Nooo!

You see one thing I have seen in Christianity is There is this desire for peace that Christian do what ever to maintain peace even when it makes them uncomfortable.

Do you think Christians find it soothing with all this jihad movements , burning their houses , killing their people. No! its not funny. they don't like it.
If they have the same mentality as the Muslims, the whole nation will be boiling by now. But because they are naturally peace loving ppl.

So telling them to wear a dress code they are not comfortable with wouldn't have made them violent or disrupt peace.

The few reasonable Muslims should always educate the rest and make them see why it is wrong to start trouble at the slightest discomfort.

Life is not all about me, myself and I

Think of others' Peace and leave trouble making.

If the school said no wearing of hijab obey it, if u are not satisfied with that you can change your ward to another school that allows that. Implication: both students are not wearing the same attire, they are not uniform.

No, you are wrong. ISI dress code is what defines the school uniform not your dictionary and most definitely not your sentiment.

What your should be concerned about is the validity of Hijab as part of the school's dress code. The Muslim man in the report mentioned more than once that the hijab wasn't in any contravention of the school's dress code. We need the principal to debunk that claim and explain why the sudden rush to ban it?

We simply lack tolerance in this society. We claim secularity when it suits our belief and its convenient for our practice.

I won't be surprised there are churches/chapel and mosque all around the school with conspicuous religion inscriptions all over. Yet we don't want to see hijab because we see it as religious attire and it carries certain religion value. That is hypocrisy!

We rather learn to tolerate each other or we completely do away with any form of religiosity in our public life.

I don't know why some people are bitter over nothing.

They want to wear hijab, on their heads. How does it affect you?

The school has dress code, does it forbids hijab? No!

Has any Muslim group clamored for a modification to the males' students dress code? No!

Why is this issue of hijab in schools peculiar to the south only? Are there no schools in the north?

Any southerner can ask his parents or grand parents what schools used to be.
Schools were 'evangelical' tools in those days. Lots of people who resisted it back then ended up with half education or not going to school at all. What a tolerant religion indeed.

ISI is a school owned by UI staff community (comprising adherents of many faiths). Any activity or policy against any faith should be addressed. Let other religions' faithfuls bring up their cases too but do remember that these girls clamoring for hijab wear it at home too. After all not all Muslim girls wear it. But should we deny those that can't do without it?
Others should clamor for what they wear at home too and not customes to wipe sentiments like they did in Iwo few years back.
Didn't even realise you're one of these fanatics. What a shame.
Care to tell me what the word uniform is?

I once stated that my Mum once headed a muslim school where majority of the staffs had their young kids enrolled into the school yet regardless of their religion, every male child was required to put on his cap while the female had their hijab wear on and no one complained. Why? Because it was the uniform wear. Everyone had to be uniform in their wears.

Hence it's a height of stupidity to want to impose non-uniformity into a school which already has a laid down uniformity. You muslisms should always put on your thinking cap.

That said, it's becoming pathetic the way some muslims are sowing seeds of discord and anarchy in the SW with the way they are carrying on. Also, I don't see why a Yoruba man/woman shouldn't bear a Yoruba name. You could have a baptismal name or a muslim name but your Yoruba heritage should be easily identified through your name but it isn't the case with most muslims in the SW. Some even have both their surname and first name in Arabs which is a shame.

There is freedom of religion in this country.
In as much as it is in their religion to wear scarf, they should be allowed.!

The school is funded by tax payer's fund as part of UI, and the principal salary is funded by everyone's tax, irrespective of their religion.

The principal seems to be one of those fundamentalist Crusaders. She needs to be very careful, otherwise, she may lose her job.

If a Muslim knows that you will rather want his kid to not wear hijab so you could have your way then he would go any length to make sure he does have his way too. I say simply live and let live that way we all can be happy together. I have had an Hausa guide as my security and all I have to do is let him observe his religion and I observe mine so long as he his doing his work rightly.

All I would just say is that Christians should know that Islam and Muslims are the Anti christ the Bible warned us of in the Bible and we have to be ready for the reign of terror from them. The time for political correctness is over and we have to called islam out for the blood sucking, occult religion that it is.

I grew up with muslims and some of my best friends are muslims but I know that the religion is inherently anti western and evil. It would do christians and other religions well not to treat the excesses of islam with kid gloves. Muslims are not joking and are extremely dangerous to any stable society. Our men of God should tell the flock the truth and prepare us for battle rather than concentrating on tithes and offering. Islam poses an existential threat to world peace and that is the irrefutable fact.

I'm not trying to bring them down or denigrate them, but I just feel Muslims like to act as if they're being mistreated. I understand that they take their religion as a culture, but then again they should stop forcing their nuggets on other people, because some of us take our religions very seriously too but we know when to cut back.

A government school is not a religious school. It won't kill anyone if the girls drop their hijabs for a few hours of school. Schools don't allow Catholic kids to wear Chaplets and medals and finger Rosaries. Schools don't allow girls from other Christian denominations to cover their hair or wear Church vests to school, so why should Muslim girls be permitted to wear hijabs to government schools? Everyone should try to be more tolerant, more flexible and less over-zealous.

I'm a Muslim but against anything that has to do with forcing an agenda or doctrine on any Muslims or non-muslims, Therefore I don't believe you have to force any human to do your bidding or believe same way like you. I can only persuade and if my persuasion aligned with your values and accept, good for you. This issue of hijab is non-issue.

Case study- We are biting more than we can shew in this case and creating an unnecessary problem for ourselves and our society. There is nothing wrong in wearing the small female cover we called Hijab and it is different from the veil or full cover. Let's accommodate each other, let's see and understand the differences between us and harness it for the good of our people. We have the same problem nationally between all our major tribes namely Ibos, Yorubas and Hausa/Fulani, there's no mono-ethnic or religion in the world but they learn to cohabit together, understanding their differences . They love the benefits the diversity brings. I'm a Yoruba-man and a Muslim. I had my secondary education in Methodist school daily singing songs of praise which I enjoyed and my Imam father never complained or protested against it due to his tolerance. My father has bible and Quran in our home and, he used to study both for knowledge, agree with the bible as a book from GOD. Today, we are so hate-full based on where we come from, our religious diversity and how we look. We are less accommodating and it might lead to a bigger problem. Religion wasn't a problem in the southwest until we allowed from another tribe the importation of new generational Christian doctrines, opening churches like grocery shops everywhere in the southwest, we cohabit before without rancor.

Before you cursed or abused me, I'm from a mixed home. My mom was from a Christian family and my father was from a traditionalist. We are four in my family, two are Christians and two are Muslims. There is an agenda to destroy the Yoruba internally by external hands, they labored hard to differential the Lagosians from mainland Yoruba, they looked to separate us at the micro level but all to no avail, Now they one to use religion. We need to go back as Yoruba to our foundation of tolerance and peaceful tradition of cohabiting to emphasize why we are unique. My love for the Yoruba Race/ Tribes is unshakeable no matter your tribe, your religion or political inclination. But, understanding we have differences in our ways or methods of worshipping is key to our success just like we understand we have traditionalists whom idols are at the core of their faith.
