You need serious sense if you think the present Benin city represents the Benin kingdom..

The Binis are the biggest loser in British invasion by losing many of its territory to different tribes, we are fixing it back one after the other..

Onitsha is a Bini territory and we hope when Nigeria indeed divide we'll reclaim it back.

Aligning forces with the Yoruba and Fulani helped us reclaim the lost Bini territory that was in ijaw hands.

The igbos isn't the original owner of Onitsha, we the Binis are.

For your information when you mention Edo, you are mention the Benin, urhobo, akoko, esan, afemai and other edoid tribes..

Even the igbos in Bini traced their ancestry here and it's important we remain so.

This is very true even the igbos know it but are ashame of their Bini ancestry and trying to claim Jews just like the yorubas are saying oduduwa fell from sky or walk from middle East to Ife..

You can deny it all you want but the truth will always prevail, As far as I know Onitsha is part of the bini kingdom

. Benin and Igbo Connection
Onitsha, Orisha
By PHILIP EMEAGWALI

Introduction:

I am a Yoruba by birth (born in Akure, western region) and Igbo by heritage. As a native Onitsha Igbo, I trace my ancestry to Eze Chima, a prince who rebelled against the Benin royal dynasty and emigrated from the kingdom. Other Igbos that trace their lineage to Eze Chima include Onicha-Ukwu, Onicha-Olona, Onicha-Ugbo, Obior, Issele-Ukwu, Issele-Mkpima, Issele-Azagba, Ezi, Abeh and Obamkpa.

Native Onitshans speak a dialect of the Igbo language with several Benin/Yoruba words such as "Obi" (of Onitsha) and "Oba" (of Benin). In fact, the word Onitsha (Onicha) is a corruption of the god "Orisha." The bini name for River Niger is Ohinmwin. The Onicha Igbo call it "Orinmili." In a few years, we will have DNA tests that proves (or disproves) the Onitsha-Benin-Yoruba connection.

In fact, a lost dialect of the Yoruba language, called Olukwumu, is spoken in Brazil and in a few Igbo communities named Anioma, Idumu-Ogu, Ubulubu, Ugboba, Ugbodu, and Ukwunzu (M. A. Onwuejeogwu, 1987 Ahiajoku Lecture). The absence Olukwumu in core Yoruba land proves that these communities are the Lost Yoruba Tribe that were fleeing from slave raiders.

nobody chased anybody, the Binis don't force their culture and religion into other tribes..

We all know the igbos can't occupy a big areas of land or wage war into another state.

That's why they are scattered all over Nigeria, from igbanke in edo to anioma in delta, to Benue, pH and akwa ibom.

read the history about the Onitsha even by your own tribe scholars.

You can deny it but the fact still there.

I thought it was the baby factory, I think it's must be compulsory for all igbos to do DNA test because their aren't the real children of the parents..

What about drug pushing? Eya igbo are killed all over Asia, south Africa and even Ghana

What about kidnapping and ritual? Igbo takes the lead.

LOL. For the sake of argument, let us even accept that Ezechime came from Benin. it still doesn't make Onitsha Benin territory. There were indigenous people there when Ezechime arrived, e.g. the Oze people inland And the Mgbelekeke people by the waterside.

At best (again for argument's sake) you can only lay claim to the descendants of Ezechime. You can come and carry them back to your Benin. The territory belongs to the people who were there pre-Ezechime.

In any case, the umu Ezechime have no interest in identifying ethnically as Benin. Igbo is the ethnic identity they know today, so this argument is moot.
