The Chairman, traditional rulers council of Cross River State, His Majesty, Chief (Dr) Etim Okon Edet has released a press statement warning the Igbo Community in Cross River State to desist from its plan installation and coronation of Sir E. A Ezenwenyi (KSS, KSM, JP) as the Eze Ndi Igbo of Cross River State.

In a statement released on the 13th of November, 2018, the traditional rulers council suggested that the Igbo Community in Cross River State are free to choose such other title that reflects the association but not one which is reserved for traditional rulers in igboland.

The traditional rulers council advised the Igbo Community to use such titles as president, chairman, etc, but not necessarily, Eze Ndi Igbo of Cross River State.

The press statement was co-signed by HRM, Barr. (Dr) Patrick Oqua Agbor.

That press statement is attached below.

because cross rivers state is added to title, implying that cross rivers state is the domain of the said traditional ruler(Eze ndigbo)

Thank you, the problem is that once allowed. The purported Eze Ndi-igbo we start to wear crown and other traditional regalia. It was the Igbo traditional rulers that wrote other traditional rulers in the country not to allow it. You can imagine an event where an Eze Ndi Igbo have been accorded traditional respect and referred seat before the arrival of the real traditional ruler from Igbo land in occasion outside the state.

In my opinion the problem really is not the title Eze Ndi Igbo but most the behaviour, attitude and claim by the purported Eze. He will want to applied for official motor Number Plate specially reserved for traditional rulers acknowledged and recognised by the government of that state.

A business associates that I usually transact business with was just Chairman of his Village age group association/club. If you see the regalia, pictures and claims that followed his election as Chairman of the association. You will be wondering what going on.

Our brothers from Igbo land should reason this and separate traditional title from association appointment.

@ bolded... your inferiority complex as it concerns the Igbo, is legendary. cheesy

PS emir and sultan are not traditional titles but religious titles. I can as well equate the emir to a bishop, and the sultan to the cardinal, speaking from the Catholic point of view. Forget that these titles have had their powers and influence withered, they were once very politically powerful, even more than your silly emirs.
hmmmm.did i read u well? Inferiority complex?
I wish to first of all state here that one i do not originate from a region u could probably referre to me as having complex issue-for the record,i am a core Niger Deltan who has been feeding ur 5 states from east for as far as i can remember.
Secondly, how there u ignorantly tell me an emir was only a religious head when u are actually mentioning Bsc holder in political science?
If emirship or sultanship was only a religious head,i suppose the jihad wouldn't have remove the political heads and install their leaders who became both religious and political leaders.
Lastly,u seem to be validation my hypothesis as to u and ur people's intolerant and inability to coexist peacefuly with fellow patriots.
Go and get sense,if its too expensive try Indian herb smoking, its cheap and effective.atlist it will take u to sleep and keep dreaming u are all isrealits
Ndigbo must respect the laws of their host community.

Two captains can't be on one ship .
same thing like this was tried in Akure but the Deji dealt with it appropriately, kudos to the cross river trad chief for putting them in check, no matter your population in a foreign land that doesn't make you a foreigner

Lol, the only thing I have to reply to this epistle, is that you should throw away your Bsc certificate, and demand a refund from whatever institution you got the certificate from. Goodbye.

My dear yoruba muslim brother, are you pained about the truth that I said? grin

Do you want me to hide our religious division and lie about our fake 'yoruba unity'? Have you forgotten that MURIC our leaders empahisize that we are yoruba muslims on social media?

grin

Dpharisee:

They are blaming Yoruba Afonja Muslims not Yorubas, they respect true Yorubas not Afoja Muslims who sold Ilorin to Fulanis
Bro all this Yoruba Muslim vs Yoruba Christian stuff needs to stop.
Lets be serious, Yoruba Muslims and Yoruba Christians do NOT hate each other. They are united.
Yorubas don't discriminate amongst themselves when it comes to religion.

Their are mischievous elements that are trying to put division between the Yorubas.
10 years from now, God forbid if Yoruba Muslims and Yoruba Christians start hating each other and discriminating
against each other and dividing, we will all know where it started from.

For the last year, mischievious people with agendas trying to bring hate and division between the Yoruba people and between Nigerians as a whole.
Im not even Yoruba, but I see patterns on how people spread and start hate and division

The Hausa's have the Sarikin Hausawa who resides in Nasarawa Bakoko, 8miles in calabar so why are they raising alarm over eze ndigbo who naturally is a subject of the Obong of Calabar. In calabar, the Obong is just like a nickname. They don't have regards for him at all. It is only in calabar that a traditional ruler goes to work (Palace) like any other civil servant. He lives in Adiabo Tinapa road and his palace is in Calabar South. 80% of residents in calabar does not even know the name of the Obong let alone know him in person.
typical Ibo man. when things don't go your way you disrespect your host and their traditional ruler

smh

Sarikin Hausawa is not ''Emir Hausawa'' An Eze is equivalent of an Emir or Oba''. Sarikin means leader or head of a community, not a ''King''
What the Igbo's are attempting to do is create a ''Kingdom within a Kingdom''.

They have exported the madness to other parts of the country and even outside. You can imagine a nonentity who calls himself an Eze Ndigbo of Akure walking into the Oba's palace with his own ''crown'' on the head and not bowing to pay homage to the King.
Creating problems every they go.

Sorry dear. What is Sariki? If u understand Hausa

They are not opposed to the title "Eze Ndigbo" but to the "Eze Ndigbo of Cross River" . Just imagine having the oba of Imo in Owerri. [
Slikbae:
Please do you have any idea why the cross riverians may be opposed to the title "Eze ndigbo" ?
