This vehicle is notorious for this symptoms.

Get a credible autoshop to help scan.

You will never i repeat never enjoy this car if you patronise road side mechanics.

If the engine gasket is fried, you will have to replace the engine and maybe the gearbox if this too is faulty and beyond repair.

This vehicle has a few sensors which go bad easily same as the stepper motor of the gearbox and will make the gear seem bad.I guess its a CVT gearbox.

A friend Used this car before and all kazeem were always requesting for engine and gearbox replacement

But that was never the solution until we strated using scanners to sort out its issues.

Why are you guys just scaring the op unnecessarily? The only problem I see here is that the op is a newbie to cars and does not know how to properly describe car issues.

That car simply is overheating, the engine sound he's describing is a pinging sound which can happen in any overheating engine, whether Toyota, Honda or Hyundai.

Nissan makes great cars. I used a qx4 for more than 3years without any issues.

Op, go to a good mechanic and find out why your car is overheating and rectify it.

buy obd scanner

get a scanner 5-10k max
and shame all mechanics
remember its xmas

I just got Nissan Almera last two weeks...
the car worked well at first but lately after driving for like 3hours,it will suddenly start making strange engine sound like the gear is failing to select then over heating will follow..
once it cool down, it'll start working normal again!
I've taken it to different mechanics.
one said its just the radiator that need changing, one said it's just the gear that has problem and like two others told me to give it to a rewire to sort out!

pls I'm confused... what could be the issue from experience folks on here??

This is not the way to solve your problem. Take it to a SHOP not a mechanic.
