My heart became heavy after reading the above article. What baffles me till today is how people still support this economic nonentity of a man, even some so-called learned ones. I feel so ashamed of myself, each time I remember that am been governed by this very man. Only God can save Nigeria.

Secretary Patel raises some valid points, which should be addressed, but I can't believe this article was written with good intentions, and I would not be entirely surprised if she has some pecuniary interest in this company. This article reads as a thinly veiled attempt to threaten FG.

1. She talks about investing and FDI in Nigeria as if it's a charity operation. How much more money do they stand to make from Nigeria? Africa might be seen as the more risky part of an overall balanced portfolio, but it is their most profitable (risk vs reward).

2. She mentions ONE company's experience, without expounding on how the company got the deal (was it openly bidded for, or did money exchange hands; did the company overpromise, overcharge, as is their wont), and uses that as a basis to make investors wary. Could we also be educated on the many many success stories of UK companies in Nigeria? Purely from a statistical perspective, most ventures are doomed to fail (for a multitude of reasons), so I don't think one failure is enough to damn an entire process.

3. Nigeria currently imports petrol, but not for long. Any investor would know about the oncoming refinery in Lekki, and can imagine what that will do for purchasing power and GDP once dollars are no longer diverted for imports of fuel.

4. I'm not a big fan of PMB nor of his anti-corruption drive (and it's obvious selectiveness), but even I have to admit that the rampant bold-faced stealing has reduced (it may now be covert, but at least, people are taking notice, especially in the opposition parties :-).

5. Buhari has made the Naira stable for over 1 year in both parallel and official markets... something I don't remember ever happening in any other administration, which is actually an indication of a sensible policy that should encourage investors. I don't like many things about this administration, but we cannot deny this fact.

6. She talked about corruption in Nigeria's public sector... she should also give recommendations for reducing corruption in the UK private sector, that is all too happy to take ill-gotten monies and invest it in their economy.

UK has no Secretary of State.
Some people are bent on destroying this regime without checking their facts

Not an embarrassment if you ask me.

Its just the opinion of a single person but those who understand know that the business called Nigeria is the most profitable in all the other businesses collectively named Africa.

Africa has been under siege for too long that its already complacent and very comfortable in its siege.

Look around you'd notice.

I greet you though for being one who still believe the youths and masses in general are any prepared for a "hostile takeover"..
Your fellow African would fight you first before the film even starts.

Things are not what it's supposed to be in Nigeria..

You are the one taking your Buhari hatred to another level. You don't know the details of the deal that fell through and you are already condemning your president for not paying such a huge sum as compensation. What exactly did the company do in Nigeria that made them deserve such a huge compensation? Why did they file their case in UK and not Nigeria? Why did PDP refuse to pay before handing over?
Your unreasonable worship of Buhari has clouded your sense of judgement and made you think that Buhari can never be wrong. What about the Lagos Metro Rail that Buhari cancelled after the coup he plotted? Nigeria paid billions of dollars in compensation to the company contracted for the project. Buhari, rather than allow the project to finish to ease the traffic problems which has become an albatross to Lagosians today, didn't have any problem paying huge compensation to the said company for the cancellation, so far a Southwestern state does not have such an infrastructure. Buhari has been the enemy of Nigeria for a log time.

This lady wrote an article about a contract signed in 2010. What happened to the execution of the agreement within the first 4 years when PDP was still in power? Why was the contract not honored in the 1st 4 years?

The agreement was for setting up gas processing plant facility. What exactly has the company done in terms of execution; Front End Enginnering Design (FEED), Engineering, Procurement and Construction? I read where it said Nigeria government failed in its part

My submission is tha there is something fishy about the contract

This Patel or whatever she's called must be mad. Why should Nigeria pay the shady company a whopping compensation of $9billion for a 2010 deal that fell through? If the government that signed the agreement and agreed to pay the compensation refused to pay, why should Buhari be forced to pay such a huge amount as compensation? Arrant nonsense. We have billions of our stolen assets in UK that they have refused to return till date. They should show respect to international laws and convention by returning our stolen assets back to us.
why going so low like this jst to sustain stipend ?

It is good news if it is coming from an Indian descendant, they have taken over our economy and drove out all our youths/ investors from highly rewarding employments. We need the boldness of Buhari to survive as a nation, and other African countries should follow suit.

whether there is something fishy about the contract or not, the agreement was 20years.anything less than that is a breach of contract. the scary thing about what she wrote was the fact that the current government don't obey court order. which means if the court annuals an election, there is a possibility he won't honour it.

if the executive arm of the government does not obey the judiciary, then there is fire on the mountain. its only a matter of time, the fire will affect us all one way or the other.

Its an international court judgement, if Buhari feels it is unjust he can as well appeal the judgement and present facts to defend his case.

I used to think you are one of the few sensible ipob wailers but I was wrong. So, if you are the president of Nigeria, you will pay one useless UK company with no history of contributing anything to Nigeria a compensation of $9billion? How much is even Nigeria's annual budget that you think we can afford to pay one company $9billion simply because the immediate past PDP government cancelled a contractual agreement? See, opposition is not madness. We are still Nigerians and our country should always come first no matter what. This is not about Buhari but Nigeria.
