I entered a bus from Amakohia to wethderal road in Owerri. Immediately I came down from the bus I couldn't find my phone again. I went to mtn office to retrieve the line, I was told that one of the requirements if you don't have the Sim pack is to get a court affidavit. I went to court that Same day to get the affidavit. On coming back to mtn they have closed for the day. The next day I went back to mtn office retrieved the line. They told me to use it in the next two hours. After two hours I inserted the Sim but it didn't work I couldn't go back to mtn office because that was on Tuesday (public holiday) they closed early. The next day which was Wednesday I went back they did the Sim swap the first time it didn't work, so the guy said may be those that stole it are using it for something directed me to another bench, this time it was successful. This morning I got a message from one FL WAVE that I initiated a transaction a transaction from my access bank account. That I should use the token to confirm it. I became afraid, then I checked my access bank account it was nil from 333k. I went to the access bank they are telling me I bought something online. What baffles me is that I don't have an active debit card on the account. The card they forcefully gave me I have not collected. please kindly advise

Wow! That's terrible. Sorry about that. I still don't understand how those thieves are able to hack into accounts to retrieve sensitive account details and carry out transactions with it. Banks and network operators need to do something about this

Many people don't know that the first thing to do after losing a phone linked to your
account is to block your bank account.
First request from your bank that you want a charge back because there is
a fraudulent transaction on your account. I think there should be a form to fill.
If they refuse, write to CBN and copy the bank involved and regularly update your
case with the CBN.
That will put enough pressure on your bank to recover your money.

The first thing you should have done was to contact your bank to deactivate internet banking and your ATM card.

Sorry for your loss man.

Search google, there is an online form for complaints on CBN's website.

zenith, funny enough I could see the transaction details of the person that stole my phone&money in my statement of account. I wrote to his bank i.e sterling bank and my bank seeking that his account should be freeze but I doubt if anything was actually done.

You should have called the bank immediately to place your funds in moratorium. Now, the die is cast. You should try and query how the transaction was possible without your debit card. That is if you don't also use other channels like mobile app.

MY ADVICE IS THIS FRIENDS... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBERS AND THE CUSTOMER CARE NUMBERS OF YOUR BANKS ON YOUR DAIRY AT HOME.

THE FIRST INSTINCT SHOULD BE TO CALL THE BANK AND ASKED THAT YOUR ACCOUNT IS BLOCKED AFTER ANSWERING THE NECESSARY QUESTIONS.....IF AFTER DOING THIS AND YOUR CASH GET MISSING THEN YOU HAVE EVIDENCE THAT THE BANK SHOULD PAY FOR NOT BEING PROACTIVE, BUT SINCE YOU DID NOT CALL THEM IN TIME, YOU MAY LOOSE THE FIGHT WITH THEM....

THE GUY THAT GOT A REFUND BY UBA WAS BECAUSE THEY FAILED TO ACT AS AT THE TIME THE REPORT OF STOLEN SIM CARD WAS MADE AND HIS CASH GOT MISSING 24 HOURS AFTER THEN.

SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOOSE...
