There are reports that the musician is mulling a run for the top office in Haiti. Reached by phone, Jean told CNN that talk of a campaign is a bit premature as he is still mulling it over.

“I can’t sing forever,” Jean said.The Canadian publication Le Droit reported over the weekend that Jean would be throwing his hat into the political ring in his native homeland. But Jean told CNN that such reports reflect him being "drafted" but he hasn't decided for sure yet.

He added that he has filled out the necessary paperwork in case he does decide to move forward with a candidacy. Jean has been an outspoken proponent of Haiti through his Yele Haiti Foundation and was one of the first celebrities to offer aid after the devastating earthquake.

He's done more for Haiti that any President . . . he basically put that country on the map.
He's the most famous man in the country, and the most important part is the fact that he actually cares about them.

Just because he loves his country and his uncle is in politics doesn't mean he should run. He did drop out of school. Plus his organization, Yele Haiti, was under heavy scrutiny. His record isn't clean in my book nor is he qualified. Love him and his music though.

1, he loves his country
2, he is passionate about his country
3, he is already rich so he does not need to steal
4, he has a hugeeee worldwide fan base. his power of influence cuts across to bono, oprah, nelson mandela etc. as a result he will drum in lots of cash due to donations, tourism and business.
5, his vision is infinite. a la yele haiti

all in all, i think he will be the best president haiti ever had. i also think he should appoint samuel dalembert as the minister of sports.

Anyway, I think he is the only person I know in Haiti who has got that power to change. As above listed, he can do it. But the fact is so so clear, that he must be able to lay down good examples, the Igbo thing, if found to be a part of him, then he should better remain a citizen than his country's president
