Nowadays, suicide is becoming a vogue in our community, perhaps due to economic hardship, financial strains, disappointment, jitting or as a defence mechanism to cover up for one's wrongs/misdeeds. Suicide simply means self-killing or intentional killing of oneself, or a particular instance of a person intentionally killing himself or herself, or of multiple people doing so. Islam frowns on this and consider it an heinous act and grave sin. Suicide is a major sin, and the one who does that is faced with a warning of eternity in the Fire of Hell, where Allaah will punish him with the means that he used to commit suicide.

One of the Masjid's Imams where I do pray Zuhr and Asr is fond of telling us in his sermons that 'no matter your situation or circumstances in life you are always at the middle' If you're wealthy, some are more wealthier than you. If you think you are poor, some are poorer than you. If you think you're in sufferings, some are in more severe sufferings. No matter your position, situation or circumstances in life, you're always at the middle.

Be patient and seek the help of your Lord, and understand that no matter what hardship befalls you here -- no matter how severe it is -- the punishment of the Hereafter is worse than it. Do you think it's appropriate for a sane mind to run away from the heat of the desert and throw himself into the fire. How can he flee from temporary hardship and difficulty -- which inevitably will come to an end -- to an eternal punishment which has no end?

The Muslim should ponder and realise that he is not the only one in this world who is affected by calamity and hardship. Calamities befell the greatest of mankind, namely the Prophets, Messengers and the righteous. They also befell the worst of mankind, namely the disbelievers and atheists. Calamity is part of the natural order of things and hardly anyone is safe from it.

A story is told of a man, who spent early stage of his life in dire needs, economic plight and financial crisis. He travelled to Lagos searching for greener pasture, he returned home crying. He travelled to another state, he returned home crying due to severity of his plight and lack of means. He lived a life of penury for years, while he was unrelenting in his efforts and initiatives. Alas, today he owns a fleet of cars and live a comfortable life. He's now a business mogul and successful merchant. Never lose hope, keep pushing it hard until something great happen.

You are not alone! Don't give up, if Allaah knows that you can't handle it, He won't test you with it. Allaah promised us that He won't burden a soul beyond what it can bear. Recall, nothing is constant. Thus, the greatest lessons you can teach yourself is to be patient. Be patient when you are happy because happiness ends. Be patient when you are sad because sadness too ends. Nothing is constant. Everything is temporary except Allaah, the Eternal, the Everlasting.

most people think death is the end to their suffering, pains, trauma, depression, frustration, iniquities and shame. then when natural death refuse to come, they commit suicide to justify the end to their lives whereas life begins to take another cause even after death. the question you need to ask yourself before taking your own life is "are you prepared to meet your Lord if you were to die a natural death?". would you receive mercy from your Lord if death came knocking at you?". if you either have anwser to those questions or not, suicide is still neither the answer.

But one can commit suicide for Allah kwo?
