EMBRACE OUTSPOKENNESS, NOT LOUSINESS

Today, we’re going to talk about ‘outspokenness’ and how many students have taken it – so erroneously – for ‘lousiness’ and the damage it has done to their personality and, by extension, the Nigerian education brand.

Outspokenness means being able to express one's knowledge or idea in a coherent, structured and convincing manner. Outspokenness, ideally, constitutes ‘content’, and not ‘garbage’ as constituted by lousiness. Lousiness is a tantrum and it only portrays the harbinger as a tout; but outspokenness, on the other hand, portrays the harbinger as sound and intelligent.

While both outspokenness and lousiness create attention, they create different impressions. The former portrays you as bold, sagacious and as having something upstairs; but the latter portrays you as mere reprobate. While people often avoid and attach little value to lousy people, they relish being around and having a discussion with outspoken guys.

So, as a student, always go for outspokenness.

However, you need to know that there are different levels of outspokenness and which often is often determined by the kind of temperament one has. While some people – especially the sanguine and choleric – are naturally outspoken, some others – and the melancholic and phlegmatic in this case – aren’t so they always have to build and polish their own outspokenness.

If you’re not naturally outspoken, you sure can train yourself to become it. It would help your cause, and the Nigerian education system’s cause, to become outspoken and be able to easily pass your salient points across.
