Parents should stop pressuring their kids ...I had a good 2.1 going into my Final year until 2 course made me a 2.2 graduate and I was sad but my parents didn't kill me . I know the life ahead will be tough on me but I just have to man it up anyhow it tussles me .

Stop being silly. What has the lecturer got to do with this. Do you know plagiarism is a criminal offence. It is equivakent to cyeating in examinations, or forgery in statutory requirements.

There is a level of academic competence required of a grad student and if he cannot meet these he is advised to withdraw. Simple. The idea that everyone who goes to school must graduate is misplaced.

All he needed to do was extra studies to meet up not kill himself because of 'his mates' as if his life is tied to them or a given time frame. He goes out half baked and it is folks like you that will accuse the institution of mismanagement and incompetence.

His friend knew he was suicidal and did nothing to alert authorities or intervene.

I was once suicidal when i was denied visa to US before then, i failed to reach the cutoff to enter unilag. Depression was my best friend then. Thank God sniper was not anywhere around me then over 10 years ago. If it was, i wont be typing this here.

You are very right bro.. it's these lack of taking full responsibility that is making people shift blame and outcome on others.. and that's easier road to depression. if u take responsibility it becomes easier to live by consequences of our actions.

Infact looking at the way some so called lecturers handle issues in our institutions of higher learning you will be appalled except you have not been there.

Like the Nigerian police,it is either you're ready to part with some reasonable amount of money or pull your pants down,if you're a female before you can pass to the other side,or you keep on sweating it out fruitlessly.

On the other hand,suicide it never the answer,you can still make it in life with or without the useless university sheet of document.Killing yourself makes you a foolish coward.

A student of the University of Ilorin, UNILORIN, has allegedly committed suicide after he was asked to carry over his project again.

Adigun Olawale Emmanuel, 27, reportedly committed suicide at Oke Odo Area of Ilorin, Kwara State after he was made to repeat his final year project again after he failed it for the second time.

According to reports on social media, he lamented that he had been accused of plagiarizing his project work. As a result, he wasn't allowed to graduate with his mates. This led him into depression and he allegedly locked himself in his room on Thursday, 29th of November, and drank a pesticide called Sniper.

His body was discovered after some people went into his room on Saturday, December 1st to investigate the bad smell coming from there. When neighbours got into his room, they discovered his swollen dead body laying on the floor.

Adigun was a student of faculty of Agriculture. Social media users claim he had allegedly attempted suicide before but this has not been verified.

The Management of University of Ilorin has visited the hostel in Oko Oba where the student committed suicide and they have also contacted Adigun’s Parents.

I dont pity him but i pity the parent who suffered to bring him up to this stage,he is a compound fool for committing suicide in the first major challenge he encounter in life. Though Nigerian lecturers really know how to frustrate students' life, I was very frustrated during my own time, my supervisor is a very mean woman, always canceling, correcting and shouting at us like little kids, I wrote chapter four up to 8times cause of too many corrections. I remember the day we followed her to ASUU meeting after waiting for her since 8am, we waited till the meeting came to an end in the evening before she grudgingly attended to us, on the day of my defence, this woman did more corrections and cancellations, I was so angry and mad, I was running round the whole school on the day of defence, sweating profusely cause I was wearing corporate, all in the name of correcting my project, as a result of that, I was the last person to defend that day. But thankGod at the end I got an A.

BTW there is no new project in faculty of Agriculture, all the project works had already been carried out by the dunder head professors

Plagiarism is mostly overlooked for undergraduate student. I believe the guy is doing his first degree.

I dunno whether they don't want students to graduate in peace or they just love to shower their frustration on students, a lecturer will be having family problem and take it out on his/her students, imagine a lecturer that hardly give F, but gave mass failure in final year second semester, which is an extra year, why are they like that. these kinda thing happens when the student is not connected to the parent... I mean his parents aren't approachable... he could have notify them of his predicament... and also he may not have a good confidante to rob minds with for a way out of the quagmire..

Fight back and watch them frustrate your life, they will make sure you will spend 10years studying a four years course, if you report a lecturer or fight a lecturer, he won't fail you in his own course but he will make sure you fail other courses so you won't suspect him, now that's savagery. These lecturers know themselves, they intentionally frustrate students.
