Who Is The Saviour? Buhari Or Atiku by Shynaboy1: 3:42pm On Dec 14, 2018
Hi everyone,

I will be running some analysis or what can best be called comparative politics here. I am a non-partisan political analyst and until now, I have been against the incumbent government on the ground that it has not kept to its 2015 campaign promises and in relation may not keep to its promises if elected for second term. But which government has ever kept to promises? Also, the first term of any government is usually the best because it stands as the basis of campaign and the bedrock for second term. Indeed, the first term performance is a sine-qua-non for second term ticket. So based on the first term performance of this government, the second term may be nothing to write home about. But Is Atiku the saviour?
However, I have gone through some quick researches on the substantial impacts of this administration on Nigeria and Nigerians and on the other hand, have done well to compare them to what the PDP presidential candidate may offer us. This analysis is based on these candidates' critical and tendencious historical as well as political antecedents.
1) ANTI-CORRUPTION: It would be very hard to deny the simple truth that corruption has drastically reduced in APC's administration (of course, it can never be totally eradicated). Either being selective in his approach or not, EFCC has been made a nightmare for corrupt officers/officials. But the same can not be said of Atiku. Right from time, Atiku has shown tendency for corruption. Let us overlook how he ingeniusly bought some assets that Obasanjo told him to sell to private individuals (which of course was part of the reasons Obasanjo initially rejected him), he has shown these tendencies in the PDP primary election. Also, for the fact that his boss could initially not vouch for him says a lot.
2) EDUCATION: Academically, this administration has not brought us forward. There has been constant strikes and indifferent approach towards education. No reasonable scholarship from the government and all that. But Atiku is coming with an approach to privatize the educational sector. It is true that this will improve the standard and quality of our educational system but only the haves will benefit while the masses will be left to fate. This will increase the number of illiterates in our society.
ECONOMY: This administration has done its part in saving us from the claws of single economy. The diversification strategies have worked and we now not only depend on crude oil but also agriculture. Atiku also is a serious business man with colossal strategies. He would no doubt improve our economy. He has shown that he understands the workings of Nigerian economy.
INSURGENCY: Although this issue keeps surfacing and re-surfacing, I still believe that nobody (at least among the aspirants) can do the job better than this retired General. Atiku may do well to seek international backings though.
These points may not be enough for one to see reasons to why Buhari is not a saint and Atiku may not be the saviour but I have expressed what I felt. Buhari may not be the way but I feel Atiku is also not an option. He has proven (of course his past actions) to be more cunny.

Well, lemme stop here for now. Pls hold me and only me responsible for the above. If you think otherwise, then I challenge you to debate it with me.
Note: I have never been a supporter of any political party.

It is a pity that the 2019 elections is between Atiku and Buhari. As things stand, Atiku can't defeat Buhari. Buhari may no be a saint but Atiku is not in the category of people to stand in contention with Buhari. Gold is different from silver.

My opinion. Do not quote cos I wont respond.
