A Child’s Right and Rehabilitation Network (CRARN) has posted photos on its Facebook page of abandoned children rescued in Akwa Ibom.

The charity organisation whose based is in Akwa Ibom, said the children were branded witches and kicked out by their families.

The post read;

“Photos of children rescued this week after being abandoned by their families and ostracised from home even with their church dresses. Their parents even feel comfortable to say “they’re unwanted children.” Superstition, poverty and religious brigandage are the major combination that is fueling this avoidable epidemic”

Regrettably, religions are not helping much with giving the people proper orientation against these superstitions. Rather, they encourage them to be worse off.

If Africa is developing at all, what worries me more is the slow pace with which our orientation is changing.

At snail speed undecided

Silence is accent. Is it that successive govts in Akwa Ibom state are all in tacit support of this religious wickedness and abhorrent criminality? Because I can't ever remember hearing or seeing the state govt take any decisive stand on this issue. Its just as if children's life and welfare don't matter to them there.
I can't imagine this kind of atavism being tolerated in a state like LAGOS.
Akwa Ibom state govt is probably the most hostile to children in nigeria
People surely deserve the kind of leaders they get.
