solutionist:
Last weekend, ex-students of the Department of Computer Science, UNIBEN – Class of ’98 – donated items such as desktop computers, UPSes, computer network infrastructure, furniture, lab equipment, etc to their alma mater.

The initiative was part of the 20th anniversary reunion of the set.

The donation was received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Pius Iribhogbe, who lauded the gesture of the alumni. Iribhogbe, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Farraday Orumwense, said the role of the alumni couldn’t be overemphasized as the body had continued to play a huge role in the development of the institution through their various donations.

The Head of Department (HOD), Computer Science, Dr. Dawodu and a former HOD, Prof. Emmanuel Onibere, commended the efforts of the members of Class 1998 for remembering their alma mater and supporting the department with computers and furniture.

Computer science lab

A few generic desktops probably housing Intel Core i5s second gen and 4Gb RAM.

Right.

This looks no better than a business center

Silly comment.

The spec you mentioned is good enough to run many applications and programmes in the academic syllabus of the the computer science department.

But I am sure that your kind will never be satisfied unless supercomputers are donated to a school that was previously using ancient computers.
