Now for curved displays.. Sammy started it with their first edge phones it wasn't perfect and had its own issues a lot of research was conducted over the years until we had the perfect S8. A company like Huwaei just comes up with no history with curved displays and boom creates one in their recent P20 phones.. Samsung announced an upcoming phone with hole in display and boom Huawei says they are releasing theirs the following month. Sammy announces flexible screens then Boom Huwaei makes same announcement. That was were the employees responsible for selling Intel were caught.

Good thing no one knows yet how to put a hole in display on amoled screens only Sammy.

BTW, the Chinese company that does Huawei's display is called Boe.

For instance OPPO and Xiaomi does not have base in every country, they do online with limited marketing instead they use referral, this has reduced their cost.
3) Small manufacturers has closed the gap between themselves and big boys like Samsung, their is not much difference so Samsung needs a lot of innovation to differeciate themselves from others which is costing too much and it raising Samsung price over the roof. What insulates apple from this serious competition is the uniqueness of ios and they can't be immune for long, in fact it has started affecting Apple sales in terms of units while revenues is is up because Apple increased the price of their product.

All in all, Samsung is quietly following the path of Sony and LG who have shifted focus to more profitable venture where they are unique and no one can compete with them for now.
