To many Nigerians, it is no longer a shocking news to see headlines like; "BOKO HARAM KILLS 100 SOLDIERS IN BORNO" like it used to be.
The killing of Soldiers by these rebels can now be likened to the killings of rats by cats. An average Nigerian will pick up a newspaper and scan through the pages looking up for the number that was killed (and no longer if any way killed), even though the media only reports a few of these massacres due to the discreet nature of the military.

Couple of months ago, 360StyleHub.com and GistOnlinesNg.com.ng were able to engage a veteran Soldier in an exclusive joint interview. The Soldier who simply gave his name as Ray happens to be one of those deployed to Borno state (North-East) Nigeria to fight "BOKO HARAM".

During the interview, Ray who is the only son of his parents but chose to join the Army due to his passion for his dear country Nigeria disclosed some facts, problems they face and his personal plight to us (even though he was been discreet).

** BELOW ARE THE THINGS HE REVEALED US.**

"I am a peace agent, Sambisa forest is my home.. do you know that while you sleep at night we are awake for your sake. You see, talk and chat with friends and family anytime you like. There are people who only get to talk to their friends just once every 365 days.
You are busy preparing for Xmas while we prepare to advance further inside the forest to stop the enermies from causing you pains on that special day.
We, like you only have one life, blood (and not water), family and friends too. Sometimes we get killed in the process.
Some of you might say it doesn't concern them, because you do not live in the North. Fact is if these enermies were given a chance, they will advance further into other zones and probably to your respective houses and attack you.
All we require from you is to appreciate our efforts and most importantly pray for us rather than throw stones and speak ill of us.
We love you that is why we vowed and sacrifices our lives and privacy for your sake."

Ray lamented.

When asked how they were been choosen and how long they serve, he refused to reveal that. He only said each of them COULD serve upto 4months.

He however gave a clue of what the habitat looks like and we were able to gather some PHOTOS OF SAMBISA FOREST.

"It is simply a forest, more like a desert. There's no water, natural shade, or house. We build shelters for ourselves using tree stems and dry leaves. Our only biological neighbors are the wild animals" He added.

He told us how they keep watch and are very alert every second as no one knows the time it happens.

Notwithstanding, they are all loved up with one mind and in absolute unity with all including their superiors. And still maintains their initial passion for their country and so are dedicated.

We heard a sad part of the story where he allerged that their counterpart have more sophisticated weapons than them. We tried to get more information on this but he remains mute on further questions on this and also refused to disclose his salary and method of payment.

In conclusion, Ray claimed that the war is almost over. In other words, that Boko Haram has almost been defeated. All they require from the government is to supply them arms, more sophisticated than the ones they have and the story of Boko Haram will be told like that of civil war. (I personally think they also need an improved health care system).

**BELOW ARE SOME QUOTES FROM THE INTERVIEW **

"Freedom itself has been endangered by a faceless coward. But freedom must be defended!! We can bring lasting solution to Nort East conflict once the politicians agree with us..."
"On the battlefield, the military pledges to leave no Soldier behind. As a nation, let it be our pledge that when we return home, we leave no veteran behind"
"The purpose of all war is peace, war is delightful to those who have had no experience of it.. say no to conflict"
"To survive a single second in Sambisa Forest is only by divine protection"
"There's never a 'Good War' neither. 'Bad Peace' "

God bless you. It's not easy at all

But pls this is your job in which you willingly signed up for a change in route would be an option if it becomes too cumbersome.
Should a driver, a carpenter, a computer scientist, a geologist, a nurse, a doctor, an engineer, a lawyer etc give D downs of their jobs we all Will live in perpetual depression .
