Go and check voting patterns and you would realise that Yorubas are not as sentimental and tribalistic as the other major tribes. In spite of having a Yoruba man as VP candidate in 2015, Buhari did not win South West overwhelmingly.

We all saw how it played out in the East. Because of the sentiment of GEJ being their son, Buhari got very very low number of votes in the South East.

Both Buhari and Atiku know that winning South West convincingly is out of the picture because Yorubas are very thoughtful people.

Instead, they are banking on South East and North. It is only in those regions that a party can get 95% of total votes.
