Saying "Awua" is the street way of greeting and showing respect to a soldier. Its a dilution of the Nigerian military term " Ajuwaya" . "Ajuwaya" is also a Nigerian version of the international military term " as you were". "As you were" is a standard military command by a superior officer to soldiers to return back to your normal standing posture or continue what thier activities after snapping to a formal " at attention" to greet him. |
