2019: Yoruba Deserves 2023 Presidency, Igbo Are Not Serious – Amaechi. by Masterclass32: 1:37pm On Jan 13, 2019 |
A First Republic Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazurike Amaechi, has noted that Igbo people were indifferent over the prospects of producing the next President in 2023. Amaechi told New Telegraph in Awka, Anambra State yesterday that power is not given on a platter of gold. The elder statesman noted that the South West has shown stronger interest in the position. According to him, “Power is not given on a platter of gold and the idea that Igbos will produce the next President of Nigeria in 2023 is not sacrosanct because there is no section in Nigerian construction that talked about rotation of power. “The Yorubas are serious about this and they are working hard to get it and I expect our people in Igbo land to work hard and show seriousness. “Our politicians in the South-East should wake up and show that we are interested but the Yoruba are more serious than us. “If tomorrow the position goes to the South West we do not have anybody to blame because they deserve it going by the way they are fighting the agenda.” http://dailypost.ng/2019/01/12/2019-yoruba-deserves-2023-presidency-igbo-not-serious-amaechi/ 9 Likes |

Power is still open to the three regions in South ( SW,SE, SS), though SW is the favourites. Time will tell |

Presidency cannot help a region grow, if Ibadan can still look like this after many years of yoruba presidency, then we're not interested . 4 Likes

Igbos want to produce the president of Nigeria in 2023 by supporting an Atiku that will seek re-election in same 2023. How they want to achieve this aim is not even clear to them. Ekweremadu who was at the forefront of Atiku for president has now gone into hiding. Sense has finally fallen on him. Others will still come here and call the elderly Amaechi an Efulefu . They will argue that what igbos want is restructuring and not presidency. Others who align with Kanu will tell us “no lefelendum no erection”. In all, we in the south west are united in purpose. We shall rally behind one of our own when power return to the south in 2023. Politics is all about interest and calculation. We wait till then. 22 Likes 2 Shares |

The old man has spoken the truth and nothing but. Igbos don't really want power, and even when they get it they would rather use it to enrich individuals than improve their regional lot. They never really maximized their opportunity under GEJ's five year tenure (no noteworthy infrastructural development occured in the SouthEast under GEJ), while the current crop of Yorubas in APC have demonstrated within 3 to 4-years that they're willing to use political power to maximize their opportunity at the centre. Unlike during OBJ and GEJ tenures where Yoruba in PDP were lame-ducks, Yorubas in APC are seeing to completion of Lag/Ibadan expressway, spanking new Lag/Ibadan rail-line, Apapa road reconstruction etc, and they want more. They seem to know what to do with power and are pulling all stops to maximize their opportunities. 13 Likes

Can't be bothered with who gets 2023. The most important is to rescue Nigeria from total destruction by the incompetent government of Buhari. 1 Like 1 Share |

SE is never obsessed with a presidency that is devoid of equity & eligantarism. What does the core north have to show for ruling Nigeria for the greater parts of her post-independence period? Absolutely nothing. So Bleep all these nonsense! 1 Like |

Well, the man has a point. While a few igbos are laying a sentimental claim to 2023 presidency, by all indications the vast majority of them don't really want power (many of them including the Biafrans have stated that much countlessly). In that case, let those that who feel they want power and know what to do with it slug it out, be it Yoruba, Edo, Ikwerre, Ibibio or whomever. 4 Likes |

Have you noticed that the talk of 2023 is taking massive shape while we are still in 2019. Ohaneze are even dragging it but it only confirms that the elite do not favor in an atiku presidency because an I'll fated atiefwu tenure would mean he extends power till 2027. If you know you know |
