Your excellency, these projects you called monuments, are they economically viable to Akwa Ibom state? When completed, would they generate revenue to the state? The money used in building these projects or monuments as you claimed, was it financed from the former governor's pocket? If these projects are going to create employment and generate revenue to the state, why not go ahead and complete them? After all government is continuum.

I actually agree with Udom, with a country that has limited resources etc like Nigeria. I find it bizarre that "Four Points by Sheraton" and a entertainment centre were priorities. The focus of state governments in a country like Nigeria (3rd world) should be on improving infrastructure, human capital development and ease of business in order to create an enabling environment that will attract projects such as Sheraton without government pumping mind-boggling amounts into....I'm not even sure exactly. I read recently that some SME's having been relocating from Alagbole, Ogun to Edo state because of the conducive environment being created by Godwin Obaseki. Now that's how you bring genuine long-term development.

At the end of the day, the losers are the people of AI because they've lost billions on uncompleted projects that they should be enjoying today just because of this thoughtless and shortsighted governor.

Ambode did the same thing in Lagos, he abandoned and delayed Fashola's projects and he's paying for it.

This is where legislators of AI need to be actually "doing" there job. For example, in my opinion there should be a law where any project that has been budgeted for over a significant amount ($2 million) which has a positive benefits-cost value in the appraisal calculations of over *** must be included in the state's masterplan (thus must be completed when requisite funds are available, regardless).

Ambode, I don't rate whatsoever. Not even one peep regarding the metro line over 4 years. At the end of the day I blame the lack of questioning from stakeholders.

Akpabio being a free a man today shows how much Integrilized Pmb is....

It's a Monumental calamity on the bright minds of Nigerians if Pmb returns...

GOD FORBID

So, Akpabio was corrupt and all of you were defending him!

I have no idea, it's up to the people of AI to question him. Personally, this would much lower on my priority list. Seems like a political move possibly? but does contradict is supposedly ideology, however in Nigeria no way would prioritizing religious centres over infrastructure be called a "waste". Lol.

I dunno whether this is sheer pride or foolishness but I don't understand this man. That's why Nigeria isn't going forward. There is no teamwork. Everyone wants to be a line ranger. Have you seen a footballer being brought into a match come in to start the game all over again? He continues from where the former player stopped. That's called progress. Nobody said you must start and finish the journey. True leadership is having people who will continue after you have left.
That's why there so many uncompleted projects worth billions lying around every state just cuz the leaders are either blinded by pride or just foolish.

Lol...this illustration don crack my rib cage
Wtf is he talkin about?
Why akpabio no complete those projects b4 em leave...dey money Wer em take Wer EFCC dey tail am, no bin reach to complete dem?
Yes he was good but not all that as evident of corruption charges against him is mind siezuring.

People Wer shock to hear that AKS is broke considering the monthly allawee the state was collecting in akpabio’s tenure
Now the question is, does the uncommon transformation projects equal the revenues he collected for 8yrs?...your answer is as good as mine if you reside in AKS or frequently visits.

For now make em free Udom carjo em own grin

If he fails to complete inherited projects or monuments as he refers to it, who looses? The Akwa Ibom people loose. Well Mr Governor, there is difference between politics and governance. Whatever the issue is between you and your predecessor, it should not prevent you from completing inherited projects which are being funded by tax payers money.
try to read and understand before u write....he said the money that is available will be used wisely on projects that will affect the lives of the people directly. If u r from Akwa Ibom u will know some of the project he abandoned is not something that needs urgent attention.

blue3k2 i think u misconstrued the actual thoughts of the govr concerning not completing akpabios project.

first thetropicana we r talking abt how much was expended on the project before handover to udom?
u dont expectthe new admin to go work on project that he inherited n tagged 99percent complete on paper but on reality its far from it.
likewise the fourpoint sheraton at ikot ekpene.
akpabio said those projects were completed n he even commissioned it before handover yet he didnt put it to use since it was completed n commissioned.
i knw this thread was to ridicule udom but sane minds who read n can comprehend will understand the thoughts of udom.

And so, after his tenure, his successor will also see his 'projects that will affect the lives of the people' as white elephant projects and the cycle continues, right?

This shows that he's a failure.government is a continuum,at least he should continue the good projects akpabio left just like buhari is completing all uncompleted pdp projects.him not being able to read his manifesto showed that he copied from that of nsima ekere who will defeat him.

You're wrong I did nothing of the sort. I highlighted His quote and authors implied meaning of momuments. This is waste no matter how you look at it. If they used this cash to things schools, hospitals, or other infrastructure like the so called International airport it be better.

Lets addrrss fact the first stated owned hotel wasnt profitable for state 10 years it was open. The state paid for le Meridian name and managers and didnt get anything from it. Now if they dont plan on completing building no what? Are they going to sell uncompleted buildings. I assume they already paid name aswell.

We shouldnt fall into sunk cost fallacy but at same time there has to be pragmatic. As you also know government is continuum. If the buildings are complete they could probably sell it at better price. Udom didnt criticized or go after Akpabio till after fall out. Now the issues with both men are to be seen. The only losers are tac payers and people who take this clowns seriously.
