When designing Logos and branding for two or sister companies and clients request for a cohesive design, You're no longer designing just a logo but a template for other designs, finding things that would remain constant and things that would change in a new design is key. In this case it the secondary color and the icon that changes, the overall feel is still pretty much the same. In a glance one would kind the two are affiliated.
Wit the logos out of the way, Id be working on the business cards and other stationery.

Thanks, yeah Icons can be logos and vice versa. Look at Nike's swoosh, Targets logo etc
