THE FEAR OF THE MOTHER-IN-LAW

I asked a class of sisters where they would prefer to live in advanced old age out of the following:


1) Move into your daughter's home to live with her and her husband.
2) Move into your son's home to live with him and his wife.
3) Live in a hostel for elderly people as is common in the Western world.

As expected, they all hated the third option and virtually all of them chorused that the second was their choice. Why not, when that will be more of their own home as a mother-in-law to some young woman. After all, they will be enjoying the fruit of their own labour then, something they made that some young woman will come to enjoy. Then came the shocker: I asked how many of them wouldn't mind living with a mother-in-law today. You can guess the reactions.
Beware: You are today's young bride, but a future mother-in-law too.

Allah says:

وَيْلٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَ، الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ،
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَوْ وَزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ.

Woe to Al-Mutaffifin. Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure. And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due
(Quran 83:1-3).

ALOT OF NOWADAYS WOMEN PREFER TO BE DOING ME AND MY HUSBAND FORGETTING THEY WILL LATTER BECOME MOTHER INLAW TOO..... MAY ALMIGHTY ALLAH GUILD US AND BLESS US WITH THE BEST WIFE..... AND FOR THE MARRIED ONE.... MAY THE ALMIGHTY BLESS THEM WITH WISDOM TO UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER..... JUMAT KAREEM

Truth be told, our women, especially young couples are resistant of the 1 and 2 above. Reason is they lack endurance as much as the parent in-laws (Mother especially) are threading gradually to the grave. Hence, some level tolerance is needed because of some cultural, traditional n religious differences.

But as much it is in the confines of the DEEN, if one is capable, especially when the mother in-law is widowed, she should be accommodated.

y'all seem to fget dt d wife has no obligation towards her inlaws. . it is d right of d wife to have a separate accommodation. if she feels safer and more comfy therein
