As early as 10 am, getting access into the Dan Anyiam Stadium, venue of the Presidential flag off in Owerri, was already a task for the truly daring, especially if one had any interest in being around the VIP area.

As time progressed, that task became tougher. There were far more people outside the stadium than inside the main arena. Wetheral Road in Owerri was littered with all kinds of vehicles, many branded in different PDP styles of the different candidates participating in the elections.

The security men were quite uncompromising while sticking to the fact that whoever had no real business getting inside didn't have access. In a great way, it was a relief as the crowd inside the stadium, especially within the main bowl, was never in danger of stampede.

Any fear of such resided outside where all kinds of vendors, hawkers of all manner of essentials made hay. One could notice the craft of neighbouring Aba in different types of party paraphernalia. Their cap designs are out of this world! Anything corked was exhausted. Water was the hottest commodity.

But when HE Atiku Abubakar, accompanied by wife, HE Jennifer Abubakar, his running mate HE Peter Obi and wife HE Margret Obi...
then the Senate President and DG of PDP Presidential Campaign, Bukola Saraki, the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, the PDP National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus, the Chairman of South East Governors Forum and South East PDP Campaign DG HE Dave Umahi, the governor of Enugu State HE Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Abia State HE Okezie Ikpeazu, the PDP guber candidate of Imo State HE Emeka Ihedioha, the PDP guber candidate of Anambra State in last election HE Oseloka Obaze, the former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim among many many others, the stadium erupted and first sign of stampede became real.

Despite the very reassuring speech of Waziri Adamawa and the brief one from Okwute, Dave Umahi's speech stole the show.

It was very brief but sent the message very far and wide.

"The South East PDP is united for AtikuObi . There is no division. All South East governors are here and we will win this election," Umahi said amidst cheers. His supporters all the way from Ebonyi State were quite many and took visible position inside the main bowl.

For those that understood the game, Umahi said all they wanted to hear. The attendance of all the aforementioned personalities signified oneness.

Politicians usually spoke during rallies. Attendance or staying away has perfect interpretation. Yesterday, it was that the entire South East is for AtikuObi.

And kudos to governor of Imo State, HE Rochas Okorocha for endorsing the Dan Anyiam Stadium without trying to sabotage the rally with any form of sponsored disruption.

The South East has spoken. Let's take more from Buhari's 5% and add to our 97%.
