I need a great answer to a little question I have: What are the practical steps I should take to starting a magazine?

I've been working on starting one, and I'd appreciate contributors too.

P.S: Editorial is geared towards the youths.

ok, maybe not dat simple, but the key thing is, KNOW WHAT U WANT.
cos that will go a long way to determine how long u will last.
me and my friends started F-Factor Magazine early this year, and we ahve done 3 editions already

and believe me, its not a feat for d faint hearted.

first, ask urself dis questions,
what kind of mag?
who are the target audience?
where are they?
why would they buy my mag?
what make my mag different from the others?
what is the unique selling point of my mag?

u need capital (500k and above) to ensure u can do eseveral ditions pending the time u will get paid adverts,
u need contributors that will agree to write for free for u (pending when u can start to pay dem), u can try getting family members, friends, friends' of friends, colleagues, even strangers online, cos some people just want to express demself with no immediate monetary reward.
u need a good graphic artist,
u need a cartoonist (but that depends on your content).
u need a good printer, in fact, a very good printer, cos the quality of ur work is dependent on the quality of ur printer.
