Ibb's N10 Million Photo-op With Media Executives by oladayo042: 8:21am On Aug 19, 2010 |
IBB at his Hilltop Mansion Of Corruption With Media executives In his latest effort to capture the loyalty of the national press and ensure optimal coverage in their pages, former Nigerian dictator Ibrahim Babangida ferried some of the country's top media execs to a lavish press conference under the stars at his Hilltop Mansion in Minna, Niger State. While at it, he praised the professionals for their skill at the craft and invoked his love for the free press. The journalists, overcome perhaps by the kind words, took the bait. No unpleasant questions, like why would he close down newspaper houses and murder a top journalist -Dele Giwa- via a letter bomb? Babangida responded to the question anyway. He told his distinguished guests that his respect for the "sanctity of life" would not have permitted him to kill journalist Giwa. His visitors (mostly editorial board chairs of major media houses in Nigeria) then passed over another opportunity to ask: why would he kill his friend, Mamman Vatsa, over a fake coup plot? Too good an item to keep this curious meeting under wraps, word soon leaked out that IBB gave these journalists N10 million as "transport fare". Some of these men and women swiftly reached out to SaharaReporters to debunk the part of our story that they got N10 million each, some honestly admitted that they got a paltry gift of N250,000 from the "Evil Genius. Our accountants have told us that going by the number of 40 journalists in attendance, we are still around the same ballpark of N10 million. Plus, IBB handlers said the general doesn't pay his bribes at once, so, he considers that with this partial payment, favorable reporting in the press throughout his already doomed presidential campaign should be considered a "layaway". Could this be another IBB set-up of the national media chiefs? http://www.saharareporters.com/photo/ibbs-n10-million-photo-op-media-executives

IBB, Atiku are in the race for vengance, we must be clear about this . With the billions of dollars and pounds stashed away for their generation unborn, they want to protect their loots. ibb, with no registered company in his name and no history of inherited wealth is one of the richest men in africa. I feel sad that a man of buhari’s reputation is mired in this generation of dubious northern elites. |

The Nigerian press is as corrupt as the police and PHCN. Now that money is changing hands, they are all putting on smilling faces but the moment the evil genius wins the election(God forbid) and starts to bomb them through letter or other means, then they will cry aloud. Only God knows if Dele Giwa was not once settled before he met his waterloo. Heartless and consciencesless journalist |

After lying low for a few weeks after huge accusations were made against him by a colleague (accusations he never refuted adequately), the famous Azu is back and is being rehabilitated at THISDAY. Nigerian journalists are no better than the police force or customs officers. They are hired noise makers. Sahara Reporters are a bunch of amateur conspiracy theorists with this. IBB invited the men to announce his presidential ambition, Atiku did his at the Transcorp Hilton on the 15 of this month, so what's the big deal?! Why hear Atiku out and shun IBB? I think we should all keep still and show IBB how much we detest him with our votes! |

The Media In Babangida's Pocket The cream of the Nigerian press travelled to Minna to collect the dicator's bribe and feed the nation with his denial of established truth. Top journalists even presented Babangida with a birthday card, in total disregard for the canon of their profession. It was not a surprise, therefore, that the journalists allowed the former dictator, Ibrahim Babangida, to issue another of his boring denials at the restricted media parley, where they allegedly collected N10 million in “transportation money.” Saharareporters.com reports that the event started at 11 p.m. and ended just after 1 a.m. Among the editors and executives in attendance were Tunde Rahman and Ijeoma Nwogwugwu of ThisDay, Eze Anaba of Vanguard, Felix Abugu and Martins Oloja of the Guardian, Steve Nwosu of the Sun, Arowolo of The Punch, and Sam Omatseye of The Nation. Thisday Newspaper, photography director, Mr. Sumi Smart Cole, was the master of ceremony who present the card in this picture. Several sources told Saharareporters that Ikeddy Isiguzo of Vanguard newspaper in Lagos was responsible for “mobilizing” the media executives and ensuring that they were friendly towards the general. But a source inside Babangida’s disclosed that the former dictator’s spokesman, Kassim Afegbua, afterwards had a tense exchange with Isiguzo whom he accused of allowing some of the media executives to “embarrass the general with tough questions.” http://www.againstbabangida.com/Newsroom-at-AgainstBabangida.com/the-media-in-babangidas-pocket.html
