WhatsApp made it again as they officially rolled out WhatsApp version 2.19.20 for iPhone which comes with two needful features. The arrival of Face ID and Touch ID Biometric Authentication to WhatsApp for iPhone is totally a great move and also a better security in other to expand the WhatsApp pay feature.

This features has been under developing since October last year, and now official for all iPhone running iOS 8. The biometric Authentication Features allows user to lock their WhatsApp on their iPhone using either the face or Touch ID authentication methods. This features do lock your WhatsApp, but mind you, it doesn’t lock individual chats. This simply means that once you unlock your WhatsApp, all chats can be accessible.

The arrival of the Biometric Authentication didn’t in anyway affact notification reply. This simply means that you can tap and reply your chat(s) through notification bar while locked without unlocking the WhatsApp app.

You must be on whatsapp version 2.19.20 and later before you can access this features. To lock the WhatsApp app with Face ID or Touch ID, head to Settings > Account > Privacy > Screen Lock. Once you moved to the Screen Lock screen, the app shows the available authentication method – either Face ID or Touch ID – that you can enable to lock your WhatsApp. Furthermore, you can set on time you want the biometric authentication security to take effect. You are optioned to select either immediatly, 1 minute, 15 minutes or an hour.
