Its no doubt the suspension of strike might have taken you aback, especially if you are fortunate enough to seduce the advantages of the long break like earning or learning a new skill within the few months at your disposal. And you must have heard of the merits of having some sort of skill while still been at school. Am sure you worked towards that .Now that the strike is distinct at least for now it is, plus you might need to start packing up, and obviously preparation for resumption especially to a new semester is the spur of the moment which could be vexing on its own soo here are few things to note while preparing for the new semester.
1. SCHOOL FEES PAYMENT
This got me murmuring to the school fees reminder song being sang at primary schools in the Western part of the country
“Parents listen to your children
we are the leaders of tomorrow,
Try to pay our school fees,
And give us sound education.”
But I guess this time around its no longer you reminding your parents but yourself (if you fall in that category though).Sorting out your school fees payment should be done quickly before rush hours to avoid mental breakdown but note that while doing that your rental fee might also be hanging sooo fix both immediately.
2. BRING THE GRAINS ALONG
Unless you are the tushed OBO kid with access to an all indispensable account, do not try risking the need not to pack those necessary grains from home, forming tushness wouldn’t curb your hunger a few weeks after resumption and trust me there ain’t no grain as good as the stoneless ones from home.
3. TAKE CARE OF TEXTBOOKS AND NOTES EARLY
There is nothing worse than showing up to a new semester without having the required textbooks and you really should know your recommended TB’s by now. And as stuffy as compilation of old notes may sound, abandoning them is really a bad idea because your previously used note is still going to be quite useful for reference purposes , so
you’d better get those books back to life!!!
4. ARRIVE EARLY
Now I know you might not stick to this part because its merely a tradition for students to arrive few weeks after resumption but note that its quite necessary for you to arrive early, plus its advantages are quite thoughtful cos you get to have enough time to set up your apartment and await for lectures to commence, try avoiding the whole rush thing and do make your resumption date a date.
5. BRUSH UP YOUR ACADEMIC GRADE POINT
Its funny how an excellent performance depends on a few digits, you wouldn’t want to be a below average fellow at college would you? So its important to review those grades that’s got you hanging on the edge of withdrawal and dissapointment, fixing that is a priority and the question of how comes in.The cliche show me your friend and I’ll tell you who you are might be helpful here, targeting the sharp witted brainys in your department should indeed be your mission. Be wise enough to make them your friend.
6. GET THOSE PLANS WRITTEN DOWN
Goal setting has turned to a lecture you must have heard frequently, it’s awareness has gone beyond measures, but have you thought of putting it into action even thou you might not be committed to it at first, re igniting your goal setting should be done now. Preparing a centralized calender where you get to view all your daily activities boldly in your room wouldn’t be such a bad idea. So do create or sketch out one now and create a empty filling after getting your timetable, do it now before you start feeling lazy about it when you resume to school.
7. CREATE YOUR OWN IMPOSSIBLE LIST
Has boring as college activities may be, spicing it up a bit wouldn’t hurt, try having your own bucket list for a more adventurous happy life at school. Bucket lists are quite helpful as its boosts your intellect cos you get to challenge yourself and get to know more of your capabilities.
You could include the following in your list and check them up them after completing the mission
– treck from bosso to gk with friends
-join a new club or sport at school
-join the gym
-participate in a cycling race
-do a hundred (100) pushups weekly
E.t.c
8. BUILD/IMPROVE ON YOUR PERSONAL BRAND
Its quite alright if you are not really sure of what a personal brand means , most undergraduate aren’t too and that’s why you need to know exactly what it means. And I have got a news for you, the bad news is that your degree isn’t going to fetch you a job on its own, it might but its not certain and even if it does you might still get a job different from your line of study, plus there are tons of thousands of unemployed graduates with the same degree you are trying to obtain so what makes you different?
The solution to that is for you to wake up and stat a Network with people who can help you and you can also help in return too, it all about give and take.
Improve on your skills and have a tailored resume and there really isn’t a better time to do all that but now while in college.
Make your new semester resolution the
SMART way by being specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time bond
Note that while preparing, the following miscellaneous items should not be forgotten
– id card
– atm
– credentials
– passport
– medical card
– library card
And
– stationaries
HAVE A HAPPY RESUMPTION AHEAD!!!
