The Most Powerful Passports Of 2019 by Pabloosas(m): 12:47am On Feb 20, 2019
In 2019, 27 countries were in the top 10 positions on the index, with 20 of those countries located in Europe, and three in Asia.
Here's a look at all the top ranking passports of this year.

1. Japan
For the second time in a row, Japan retained its top spot as the world's most powerful passport in 2019, according to the Henley Passport Index.
The country became the world's most travel-friendly passport due to the document's access to 190 countries.



2. Singapore & South Korea
South Korea passport moved up the ranking from October's index to join Singapore at second spot with its passport offering access to 189 jurisdictions.
South Korea has moved 10 places up the rankings since 2009, when it held 12th place with a visa-free/visa-on-arrival score of 144.



3. France & Germany
France & Germany passports made it to the third rank with access to 188 countries across the world.



4. Denmark, Finland, Sweden & Italy
These four European countries - Denmark, Finland, Sweden & Italy - tied at the fourth spot. The passports of these nations gives you access to 187 countries.



5. Luxembourg & Spain
With access to 186 countries, Luxembourg & Spain passports made it to the fifth spot.



6. Austria, Portugal, Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland, UK & USA
European countries - Austria, Portugal, Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland - also performed favourably with the United Kingdom & the United States of America.
The UK drops from 4th place to 6th place, while the US drops from 5th place to 6th place, with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 185 destinations.



7. Belgium, Canada, Ireland & Greece
The passports of Belgium, Canada, Ireland & Greece share joint 7th place, with access to 184 destinations around the globe.



8. Czech Republic
This European country solely rocks the eighth spot on the powerful passport index with access to 183 destinations.



9. Malta
Malta is holding strong at the nineth position with permission to 182 countries.



10. Australia, Iceland & New Zealand
Australia, Iceland and New Zealand all share the 10th position with access to 181 nations.



11. India
India jumped two positions from 81st in 2018 to 79th this year with access to 61 countries. The country shared the spot with Armenia, Benin & Mongolia



Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nepal ranked further low at 104, 102 and 94 respectively.
