The soldiers who monitored the Saturday's election, shot a political thug allegedly working for Rt. (Hon) Mathew Kolawole, Kogi State Speaker, known as KAY (omo olori ode) in kabba during the presidential and National Assembly elections.

According to eyewitness account, the shooting was overwhelming which resulted in people scampering for safety. Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), ad hoc staff, security agents and voters fled the venue when bullets started flying.

Our correspondent gathered that the thugs who were moving around the town to see where they could operate until the Honorable Speaker gave them instructions to rescue him of defeat in Iya/Ide unit were they disrupted the election process and they were chased away.

They moved straight to Olonjo unit in OdoAkete/Bolorunduro ward where the soldiers shot at one of them known as KAY and they handed him over to the Nigerian police in kabba. The vehicle (white Gulf) used by the thugs was given to them owned by Hon. Moses Olorunleke, Sole Administrator of Kabba/Bunu Local government.

Moses handed over the car key to one "Whitetear" who led the gang.

Presently the case has not been officially reported to the police as the Speaker is lobbying the police to see if they could release KAY so as to move him to Federal Medical Center, lokoja for treatment.

The Speaker is also appealing to the thugs to return his guns back which they haven't returned all.

We therefore called on Governor Yahaya Bello to caution the Speaker and call him to order in the interest of the Kabba/Bunu Local government and Nigeria's democracy.
