I am very proud and impressed by the huge turn out of voters for Banky W. His lost, though painful, is a victory for youth participation in politics. Representing a little known Party, Modern Democratic Party did not help matter. This is where youth should be vocal. We need to demand youth representation in the major political parties otherwise we would boycott them.

While vying for all positions in the the Nigeria political space is commendable, there are positions that Nigerians still do not understand their functions. Key among those positions are parliamentary office holders. There is a general notion that one has failed if you cannot deliver physical products or equipment to your constituencies. Holding on to the ideas would generally make any one, including Banky W if had won, a woeful failure! That was my greatest fear for Banky W and the future of youth politics. Already, many lagosians have labelled Desmond Elliot a failure without digging into the intricacies of his contribution to bills passed in the house. Even without creating a bill, a congressman discourse on its refinement for the benefit of the state or country is important.

So expecting Banky W to build roads, schools and shops would be a pie dream. In fact, there should be debate on removing lawmakers' constituency funds. This is distractive and create room for corruption.

My advice is for youths who are willing to deliver democratic dividends to the people should be encourage to take up executive positions. One starting point is Local Government. This is a miniature state and country setting with all the functions and structure of a state. I believe if you lead a good resume in Local government administration, there is tendencies for you to be a good state or country administrator.

Once again, I want to congratulate Banky W for taking up this gauntlet. Please do not rest on your oars. The tunnel is bright is the end for you and other able youth who dream of a better Nigeria. Let's the youth take over local government administrations!
