The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) says it is “thinking of” embarking on another strike.

The union said this via its official Twitter handle, in reply to a question.

It had called of its three-month strike in February after reaching an agreement with the federal government over issues bothering on staff welfare among others.

“Thinking of going on another 3 months strike action,” it wrote.

It is not yet clear if the union was joking but the tweet did not go down well with many Nigerians.

While some said the post was “useless”, others used some unprintable words while attacking the union.

Any reasonable department of society knows that all hope in this government is lost in regards to education.

A government elected by 92% illiterates shouldn't bother appeasing a group of university student who do not have electoral value.

If I were Buhari, I will let them go on strike. Allow the walls of classrooms rot with spider webs and the wooden seats collapse with the bites of termites, after all, of what importance were they to my return.

The problem is the government. Not ASUU. If the government refused to meet their demands or fail to motivate university standards. ASUU has the right to embark on strike.
