FCT Council polls: APC wins all polling units in Aso Rock by megist80: 6:46pm On Mar 09, 2019 |
The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Saturday, won all polling units for both chairman and councilors hip elections at the presidential villa, Abuja. Despite the low turnout at the two polling units PU) 021 and 022 at the State House, the APC candidate for the chairmanship election scored 290 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate who polled 132 votes. The APC polled 162 votes in PU 021 and 128 votes in PU 022 while the PDP scored 70 votes in PU 021 and 62 votes in PU 022 respectively. For the councilorship election, the APC polled a total of 273 votes to defeat PDP which scored 151 votes from the two polling units at the villa. Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived the two PUs located in the villa as early as 7:45am to wait for the arrival of voters. Unlike the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on February 23, which featured massive voter turn out, the units were scanty with adhoc staff relaxing with virtually no work to do. More than 2,600 voters who were accredited voted at the two polling stations in the Presidential and National Assembly elections. Voting commenced at exactly 8:00am and ended at about 2:06pm. Accreditation and voting was done simultaneously in a peaceful atmosphere. The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari Abba Kyari was among some of the voters who cast their votes in the presidential villa. Asked to comment on the low turn out for yesterday’s election, Abba Kyari simply noted, “Everyone has just one vote, interview the others too, not me”. At the Abacha Barracks Polling Unit, a few kilometers to the presidential villa, the issue of voter apathy was not different as the station was empty with very few voters. Election materials however arrived at the Abacha Barracks polling station as early as 7:39am. The INEC official prepared and waited for voters who came bit by bit to cast their votes. One of the Ad hoc staff confirmed to our Correspondent that the process was quite relaxed since voters just walk in and vote without cues and having to struggle. Lol, another new set of propaganda. The truth PDP made the election about Buhari, everybody forgot they have governor, chairman etc, they think Buhari is to be blame for all their problems and the governors ride along with it since it diverts attention away from their own incompetencies. Imagine a governor that collected bail out funds and refused to pay salaries yet people blame Buhari for it or fire burnt a house in onisha and the people blamed Buhari or Hospital does not have drugs in Bayelsa they still blame Buhari, who will be eager to vote for governorship when PDP has already made all those problems to be Buhari's fault. No Atiku dollars this time around? Lol. When I say it's even the rich that loves free money the most. That reminds me of those cows at Yemi Osinbajo's VGC polling unit asking for Kola and even blaming him for the death of their child who died as a result of flooding, as if Osinbajo is their state governor or their LG chairman. I thought they said these people are educated? They should just say they are envious of Osinbajo because the grace of God found him and took him to Aso rock. Only God knows why Osinbajo didn't transfer his polling unit to his hometown like other politicians did cos Ogun citizens all loved him and voted APC because of Osinbajo. Why he had thought those envious embittered folks at his former VGC residence would vote him is unfathomable. 1 Like |

It's possible elections in Nigeria do not determine winners. But most people I know did not bother to vote today. The election is a sham and far cry from what we used to know. Buhari is a shame to Nigeria, given the expectations of Nigeria. 1 Like 1 Share |

JubrinElSudan: Like Atiku too just won his unit today. The same PU he lost 2weeks ago. Today's votes were not cast because of Buhari or Atiku. They were cast for today's candidates, just as that from a fortnight were cast for the fortnight candidates. 2 Likes |

signs that Buari is not appreciated by FCT people. His style of leadership is unprecedently woeful. Let's hope his current new term if not snatched by Atiku would be better. |
