Young people, a way to impress is when you present what you have in the best of ways possible.

When you're applying for jobs, you don't just send your CVs without any written email and zero comment. That's rude. A serious person will never take your applications seriously, never! It's sad that many fresh graduates are like this. Why? What does it take to craft a nicely written email template that you can use for sending your CVs again and again?

Mhen, I tire for many of you oo. I wish I can show you my emails from less than 2 decades ago, asking people for opportunities to work for them. You will see the hunger of a young man looking to succeed in it. I will never take seriously an empty email or a job application that does not show hunger.

As an exercise for you, go and look at the cover letter that earned Tony Elumelu, one of your billionaires in Nigeria, his first break as a banker. God and learn! For some of you, it is lack of opportunities. For others, it's just laziness that has impeded progress. And I say this with all honesty and humility as someone who was in your shoes (or even worse) just 12 years ago here, but who made significant progress. You have to show desire!! Kai

You have a point but this is not actually a necessity. My first two jobs were gotten without any written email. It's just dependent on what the requirements state.

If you want a cover letter why not ask or place it as a requirement?

Actually, the hiring manger does not need a cover letter. They just need well presented applications which appear to be too difficult to do. That's why I'm amazed..A short email, may be two paragraph plus attaching CV and writing sample is all that is needed. The role is writing-intensive, okay let me say intermediate writing level, so at least a decent candidate will show they can write.

This is not a 500K job, but it is a life-time opportunity for anyone that gets it.
