A guide to choosing an awning easily
An awning is a type of roof or supplementary roof that helps control intense exposure to the sun and heat that occurs both indoors and outdoors. The awnings can be fixed or retractable and made of materials such as aluminum, fabric, vinyl or wood. They also reduce energy costs in the home by decreasing the need for air conditioning.
There are many factors that influence the purchase of awnings for your home, and owners may have some questions to ask before making a decision. We consider all your questions and concerns to help you choose the perfect awning. If you have never purchased one before, here are some key elements to review.
Uses for your awning
Awnings have many more uses than most people think they have. While it is usually associated with decks and patios, awnings are also for windows, ceilings, and doors. A colorful awning can help your business or home to impress guests. A cupola or a shed style awning draws attention for its unusual design; In fact, you can use several awnings in many different places.
When choosing a canopy, examine your lifestyle and the place in which you live. If you have an active family and live in a warm climate, you may need a large and strong awning for a patio or terrace. These can keep your deck areas cool and shaded on the hottest days so you do not have to stay indoors. If you live in a rainy or windy area, you can choose a smaller awning equipped with a nylon layer to protect it from rain, mold, and debris.
Retractable or stationary
Deciding between Stationary Awnings or Retractable Awnings is central. An outsunny retractable awning may be best if you spend a lot of time outdoors and are concerned about UV rays, sun glare, and other weather-related hazards. We recommend closing the awnings when they are not in use to protect the fabric.
Most of our awnings are large enough to shade more than 400 square feet, which is ideal if you have a large pool or large patio. The retractable awnings come with many inclination options, so you can close or open the parts you want at any time.
A stationary awning may be best if you have a small patio area or are not out for long periods. With a 10x8 waterproof patio awning, you can determine in advance which areas need more protection and mount them accordingly. Stationary awnings can be an elegant upgrade to any part of your home or business, be it the door, the windows or the roof.
Like everything, there are the basic awnings, and then the models with all the bells and whistles. You can get awnings that resist rain, winds, a certain amount of snow and even hurricanes. The retractable styles can be operated manually with a cord or motorized, with a radio engine, without radio or with a torque sensor. With this in mind, think about the color, style, and material you want before buying an awning.
