Meet Joseph Jeong, Founder Futurehack (mit Entrepreneurship Director) by holygist: 10:04am On Mar 25, 2019
Mr. Joseph Jeong is the founder of FutureHack Global, an amazing tech and entrepreneurship program that inspires the next generation to be leaders in the digital age. Mr. Jeong has also been interviewed and also recommended by Forbes as a great tech innovator. In my Dialogue with Mr. Jeong, he shares his story on how he started, and opportunities teenagers and young adults can gain from his platform and how they can harness it to create their own successful future.

Matthew: Tell me about FutureHack.

Jeong: In just two years, we’ve inspired over 250 young minds, from over 25 countries, and have given out over $150k in scholarships to teens from needy families around the world. FutureHack has a very selective application and interview process so that only the most self-motivated students are chosen each year. Once selected, their learning will begin immediately as they will be given access to our flipped-classroom self-learning materials which includes books, videos and even a coding class. Only after they’ve completed this, will they be able to join elite students from all around the world to create world impacting solutions with the help of world-class instructors and successful entrepreneurs from Harvard & MIT. After all their hard work they are not just rewarded with a simple certificate of participation (like most other programs), they will gain:

1) Important Life Skills — so they can succeed in Life, not just succeed in school
2) Self-Confidence — so that they can learn and create anything they can imagine
3) Confident Public Speaking and Presentation — these skills are necessary to become a leader in any school or company.
4) A Real “Portfolio” — they can be proud of which includes video, website or APP, presentations, advertisements of their group project. (Many top universities are now expecting “portfolios” from their applicants).
5) Global FutureHack Community- they’ll be able to make new friends and learn teamwork and leadership with students from over 20 countries and connect with Professors and Entrepreneurs for internship opportunities.
6) Most importantly they will start on their “Mars-shot” life goals and become life-long self-motivated learners that can be the new leaders of the Digital Age.

Matthew: What inspired you to start FutureHack?

Jeong: What really inspired me to start FutureHack is my own life-long journey as a self-learner, which started at the age of 13. I wanted for others to learn this powerful way “Hacking (or creating) their own Future..” As an immigrant from China, we came to America with literally nothing. Raised by a single Mother who had 4 jobs and it wasn’t at all odd that my brother and I each had 2 jobs. One delivering newspapers, another working at a Chinese restaurant. We were in the suburbs of NY and a lot of very successful people came to the restaurant. So as an inquisitive young teenager, I asked them “how did you get so successful?” What do you do?“Well, we work on Wall Street!” I said “What is that? And How do I do that?! So from that day on
