Hello house, Please, how many days does it take to clear a car from lagos port. The car has arrived since last saturday. This is thursday and I am yet to receive any update from the clearing agent. I paid a sum of 650k for it to be cleared.

It takes a minimum of 2 days and maximum of 3 days .

Once is more than 4 days begin to suspect there is a negative motive.

What will make your car not to come out in two days are.

System breakdown with Nigerian customs . Server issue.

Money given to agent to clear has been spent.

Duty payment by bank is delayed due to systemic challenge

To get your car cleared in two days .

You can do as follows

Ensure your valuation is done a day before arrival of vessel and to also know where the car will be moved to

Pay the duty as soon as you punch from the system

Release with the custom immediately.

Release from gate as well .

Releasing from shipping company .

If your clearing agent keenly follow the above , there should be no excuses not to clear cars within 2- 3 days.

Mine also arrived on Saturday and all cleared out by Tuesday Afternoon....They drove it out from the terminal and I jumped into my car at the gate... Took exactly 1 and half day....

Grande Senegal navigated back on Wednesday .

It so sad were an importer is expectant to get his car only to have been short changed or scammed.
Two things are clear. It's either the agent has ran off with the money or he used for another job that is pressing and he will later clear it out to pay demurrages charges incurred .

Thanks all for your informative support. the car came out this saturday which makes it exactly 3 weeks...i dont pray to go this route anymore. i will jejely buy my next ride in nigeria. They cleared 4cars at a time including mine. i was later made to pay extra 50k after paying 700k for clearing a 2009 model. I am suspecting that its either the car had not arrived 3weeks ago or it arrived and there was delay in clearing, The interior of d car was also stained. They must have loaded it with goods. I thank God though
