Sex addiction is excessive behaviour, which influences one’s life in a negative way. It also dictates the manners and ways the particular individual relate to the environments. Sex addiction is demonstrative and physical.

Sexual devotions can occur in different forms such as pornography, prostitution, masturbation and the likes.

Demonstrative symptoms of Sex devotion

1. They are most likely not happy with the relationship they are into but because they feel they might be abandoned, they continue with the
relationship which usually leads to psychological problems.
2. Becoming easily involved with people sexually or emotionally not taking into consideration who they are, or their personality.
3. Moving from one relationship to another when a particular person is not satisfying his/ her sexual means.

Causes of Sexual addiction

1. Genes: having a genetic predisposition to emotional sensation-seeking behaviour
2. Hormone: a higher level of sex hormones such as testosterone or estrogen can affect libido. This can also occur due to the fixation of
Oedipus behaviour.
3. Environmental influences: early exposure to sexual abuse or sexual contents can drive sexual behaviour.
Mental health: personality disorders such as schizoid personality disorder
4. Social isolation: It leads you to depression and some physical problems.
5. Social learning: Associating with people that are sexually addicted can influence you in a powerful way.

Some treatments options for sexual addiction

1. Individual therapy: focusing on your compulsive behaviour i.e having a session with a certified mental professional.
2. Cognitive behavioural therapy: reflecting on the idea that our behaviour, emotions and thoughts are all interrelated.
3. Marriage/Couples counselling: It helps to improve communication skills, trust, and healthy sexual functioning between partners.
