Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir has stepped down and consultations are under way to set up a transitional council, according to Reuters.

Sudan has been rocked by months of anti-government protests.

Bashir would be the second leader in the region to quit amid nationwide protests this month, following Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika's resignation.

Sudan’s state news media said Thursday that the military would make an important announcement, a development that comes as protests against the rule of President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, the country’s authoritarian leader, have engulfed the nation.

The armed forces will present an important statement shortly. Be ready for it,” a television anchor said.

Witnesses told the Reuters news agency that thousands of people had descended on the country’s Defense Ministry chanting, “It has fallen, we have won.”

Bashir, who has long been regarded as a pariah in the West and is wanted on genocide charges in connection with atrocities in Darfur, has ruled Sudan longer than any leader since the country gained independence in 1956.

it was achieved in Nigeria in the year 1999, now we are left with the Universal Power of Decision to decide Who Manages Our Affairs for a Period in Time.
the Power of Ballot and Balloting is all we have now which is more civil and advance.

But here in Nigeria? Docility...afonja this...ipob that...Atikulating....sai babaring and internet warriors are all we are known for.

Under two weeks...Algeria has done it and now the Sudanese while we are here still arguing about 2023...

Not yet. Protesters are still waiting for the speech by the Military. For now the Sudanese National Radio is playing marching music, but people are already celebrating his fall, with the believe that the announcement would be that of a coup.

Right now, Policemen on blue uniforms are not on the streets and the National Intelligence Agency, that has been loyal to Al Bashir are also not on the streets. Just the soldiers who have been protecting protesters for the 4 days.

The question is Can anyone rule Nigeria for 20 , 30 years? In this situation we are better than them because no one can rule more than 8yrs allowed in our law. If anyone goes beyond 8yrs then you come and ask your question.
