Welcome to the USA Undergraduate Students thread for both prospective and current student. This thread is all about finding scholarships, SAT preparation and Sharing experiences as a current undergraduate students studying in the US.

NB: This thread does not in any way replace General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries thread https://www.nairaland.com/4672093/general-u.s.a-student-visa-enquiries-part/404

We do not discuss immigration issues, fees payment or post graduate studies here but rather discuss schools that offer either partial or full scholarship, SAT preparation and sharing experiences as a current undergraduate for prospective students to learn and prepare before coming to the USA.

Karsh International Scholarship
Benefits and Opportunities

Financial Support

The Karsh International Scholars Program provides eight semesters of full tuition, room and board, and mandatory fees to Duke University. Scholars also have access to generous funding for domestic and international summer experiences, including opportunities for independent research both in the summer and during the academic year.

Academic Community

In addition to monetary support, Karsh International Scholars will have a cohort of students from all over the world, a faculty advisor, a graduate student mentor, and additional mentoring support from the Office of Undergraduate Scholars and Fellows. All Karsh International Scholars will be part of an intellectual community that engages in global dialogue and highlights the presence of international students on the Duke campus. During the regular school year, Karsh International Scholars will engage with faculty mentors, program coordinators, guest speakers, and have the occasional field trip.

All first-year scholars in a first-year seminar series across scholarships engage with each other as scholars, learn from scholars on and off campus, and engage with the greater Durham community.

Enrichment Experiences

After completion of the first year, Karsh Scholars may apply for funds to support a variety of educational enrichment activities: from working at a laboratory at Duke University or elsewhere, to pursuing an internship in the private or government sector, to engaging in service work or independent research. With the help of the Karsh faculty director, the graduate assistant, and faculty mentors or advisors, Karsh International Scholars will be supported in thinking creatively and planning wisely for these enrichment opportunities.

Emory University Scholar Programs

Emory University offers partial to full merit-based scholarships as part of the Emory University Scholar Programs. Scholar programs are more than just merit scholarships. They empower students through resources and support to reach their full potential and make an impact on the university, Atlanta, and the world beyond.

How to apply

To be considered for any and all scholar programs, you must select one of the three admission decision plans (Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision) and submit all required application materials by November 15. (Those applying Early Decision I must apply by November 1.)
You also must answer "yes" to the question on your application that says, "Do you wish to be considered for merit scholarships?"

Selection Process

The selection for merit-based scholar programs is administered by the Office of Admission in partnership with esteemed faculty. The Scholar selection process is completely separate from the financial aid process and has no impact on a student's need-based financial aid award.

Roughly 8,000-10,000 students apply to be Scholars each year. Out of that, 175–200 students are selected as Scholar Finalists. Finalists are required to attend an on-campus Scholars Finalists Visit held in the spring. Finalists are brought to campus at no expense to the student.

Taking place over several days, the visit includes activities and interviews designed to help finalists become better acquainted with Emory University and the distinct opportunities available for them here.

Applicants who are not selected as finalists for a program are still fully reviewed for admission under their selected application plan and will also automatically be considered for other smaller merit-based scholarships.

Finalists will only be invited to attend one specific program: Emory Scholars, Oxford Scholars, or Goizueta Scholars.
Scholar Programs Deadlines

November 15

Emory University Scholar Programs application deadline. (Early Decision I applicants should apply by November 1.)
October–January

Applications reviewed by admission and faculty committees.
By end of February

Scholar Finalists are chosen and notified.
Early April

Finalists visit campus. Scholar programs membership announced.
May 1

Enrollment deposit deadline.

Please Note

Scholarships are renewable for a total of eight regular academic year semesters of undergraduate study, provided students maintain high standards of personal and academic excellence and meet semester and annual requirements of their program (details provided upon acceptance).

It is impossible to transfer since your current course is different from what you want to study. If you're to be judged by your transcript, you will be judged with your chemistry courses which is not in any way related to computer, please contact the scholarship for more clarification.
