king James version
Ecc 9:7 Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
Ecc 9:8 Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.

Ecc 9:9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that [is] thy portion in [this] life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.

Ecc 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do [it] with thy might; for [there is] no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

There is no discrepancy per se as such, because the screenshot is just embellished and hasn't lost the import of the original text, whilst the former is a true render of the original text

Just look verse 9, "it is all you have" this also translate the desire of people trying to get rich rich by all means and of course selfish because they believe that life it's short, while king James version stated clearly that "it is your portion" and everything it's vanity......

"It's all you have" as against your "it's your portion" we all know that the riches of the earth is not all a Christian have, it's written that our rewards is in heaven, that no eyes or ears have heard or seen what the God have prepared for us.
Amidst all merryment carry the anointing, be ye not carried away, for its your portion (be contented in it and rejoice)

Lolz!

Got me cracking up the extent to which men would go, to try and water down the true meaning of the texts in the most original versions and translations of the Bible to suit or appease the desires of men and of the flesh, even if the true meaning or edge of those original texts are being lost in the process.

Not to say that the book of Ecclesiastics or particular text is perfect in the King James Version, with respect to the perfect standard of the church, which are the teachings of Jesus, but this translation has taken a lot more savor from it, that it's become virtually saltless.

That's why I love the KJV in spite of all the taketh, cometh, verily etc., because at least the Truth is just about as close to being in it's purest and most potent form, in comparison to the others, inclusive of the new KJV which I saw unwarranted changes, that didn't make any logical sense.

If i'm not going to see a version or translation that is able to just translate the KJV into the modern English without having to take out any of it's edge or intensity, then I might have just have to do it myself.

You're right op for the discrepancies to that extent are so enormous and distinctively clear for anybody that really wants to see the truth.

God bless.

CarlyX8, c'mon now, admit you are just trying to split hair here. "This is your portion" equates to and is same as "this is all you have" without trying to read any other meaning to it or bringing in something clearly different into it
