The spate of insecurity has continued to increase in the country, with the rate of most crimes now at a record high. Indiscriminate killings, kidnapping and armed robberies have continued to thrive in Nigeria, and unfortunately, our security forces and the federal government have also continued to fail Nigerians.

The acting Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Adamu, has just released the data for crime rates in the country for the first quarter of 2019, which states that 1,071 persons lost their lives during this period. These are the cases recorded by the police, which means actual numbers could be much higher.
