The Nigerian police force can never change unless they are punished severely for thier actions.

Smile when you see them. For what. If I am annoyed I should pretend for one person who plans to extort me. Cos he didnt stop me for my health.

Remove all roadblocks and endsars. Simple.

Police should have points they aremparkdd to monitor individuals moving around not stopping people randomly.

I was saw a policeman walk out of a bareack wearing uniform and bathroom slippers. He stopped the first car coming and started asking for papers, then arrest then bribe.

Nigga needed an evening meal. Imagine.

For the first time i say this to anyone.

Funny. The note called "white" in Lagos is called "Sky" in Warri. Sky is short for Sky blue

In Lagos it is called 'Waso'

In Onitsha, Aba, PH, Asaba, Enugi it is called "white'

In Warri it is called "sky'.

Shame on this police boss asking Nigerians to go out of their way to smile, be polite and humble to a police officer even when he's not a suspect or broke the law.

Instead of asking his illiterate, unprofessional men to be polite, considerate and calm when dealing with citizens, he's asking us to go out of our way to please police ofcidds doing their job.

What a country.

Even ordinary unarmed citizens don't deserve any of such treatments you're being warned against not to try with the police. It's not idolizing the police but reminding members of the public of etiquette they may have long forgotten.

I'm not sure you were interested in the content of the message. You had only waited for a perfect avenue to go on a ranting spray.

I read everything he said but my last paragraph remains valid. The society knows what the Nigeria Police Force is all about and sane folks will know how to avoid and possibly de-escalate situations at least for their lives sake.

What I say which you have not understood is simple. It is not up to the police to decide how the society relates with them. They are an institution setup, funded and permitted to operate by the will of society to: 'Serve and Protect' them.

You simply donot employ a set of people to protect you and these people begin to set rules and guidance on how you relate with them. I repeat again. The vestages of the colonial era are not lost on most of our institutions today and folks such as you will not permit you to see one basic fact. That:

EVERY CIVIL SERVANT IS AT YOUR SERVICE. Even where there are national monarchies such as in the UK where institutions are at the service of 'Her Majesty' they remain at the service of the people. The monarchy is merely a custodian of authority not the operator of authority. You and the better part of society needs to elevate your mentality if this country is to change for the good, failure of which anarchy can potentially break out.

I am into business and cannot for the life of me imagine telling my customers (for goods) and clients (for services) how to relate with me as a guarantee for safe and efficient services. They pay my bills. It is I who has to adapt or close shop.

I repeat. It is not up to the police to decide how society relates with them. It is up to the police to understand society in its bid to serve and protect them effectively. Police services throughout the world are under pressure to behave with more civility, even in societies with high success rates and best practices thoughtless of ours.

Please, no job in the world is easy. No one is having a free ride. We all deal with society to various degrees of danger and peril. But to hide behind a poor culture that blames society for the challenges is just capitulating to failure and once again awakening the debate about the quality of personnel we should permit to handle the sensitive affairs of society going into the future. This present set is fast proving to be woefully incapable of being partners in the development and advancement of this nation.
