Between Chinua Achebe and Professor Wole Soyinka, I would give the Nobel Prize for literature to Achebe 100 times out of 100 times. I still don't understand how Soyinka got it and Achebe did not. I read their books. Achebe's works are by far the more superior works of literature. I have often wondered if it was because of Achebe's strong moral and financial support for Biafra during the Civil War and defiance to Great Britain. I can't just understand it. By the way, my mother is from Ogun state. The same state as Professor Soyinka. If my opinions were influenced by tribe, I won't look at Achebe twice #FreeLeahSharibu, #RenosNuggets

Achebe is far ahead, he writes like James Hadley Chase. His novel is filled with intrigues, suspense and it will keep you wanting for more, Achebe is great.

Wole soyinka would spend 3 leaves of his book just to tell you a man went to market...it becomes redundant and tedious to read.

Chinua achebe books are fast paced page turners filled with intriguing plots and twists.

Those that made the decision have their criteria which Achebe apparently didn't meet (that's if at all he was ever in contention for the prize to begin with). Unfortunately, your opinion (along with Reno and his likes) aren't enough to win Achebe (with all due respect to his quality and stature as a great writer) the prize. But you can keep wailing as a consolation. Nobody can deprive you of that.

This comparison is mischievous and unnecessary. Each of the two literary giants has his unique writing style.

Chinua Achebe is a colourful story teller whose works reflect everyday realities with moderate display of intellectualism that appeals to all classes of readers.

Wole Soyinka is a wordsmith who employs as well as manipulates words to communicate his story or his feelings with exuberant display of intellectualism and in some cases, traces of abstraction.

In any case, Nobel prize award reflects the decision of majority of a select group of people. It is neither objective nor absolute.
